Important if you use Pinterest (Retailers and Affiliates)
A recent FTC investigation revealed their opinions on Pinterest / Pins / Contests / etc...

If you are a retailer that considers contests such as this on Pinterest, where you are offering a prize or other compensation in exchange for your product being pinned... this is a must read.

If you are an Affiliate, similarly who utilizes Pinterest, this is a must read.

Definitely not liking the repercussions for Facebook sweepstakes that are designed to get more likes. How could you get people to "like" your business page and remain in compliance with these new FCC guidelines?
Merchants, any data you provide to Google Shopping should also be in your affiliate network datafeed. More data means more sales!

Most companies now require "likes" for any kind of promotional participation (contest, coupons, freebies) and yeah, I don't like it either. But w/ regards to this article, if an affiliate did put a product on Pinterest, and wrote anything favorable about the product, I guess, to stay within what the FTC is saying about endorsements, affiliates should also include that they are affiliates w/ the company selling the product or?? include affiliate in the hashtag? it seems.

Shoppers determine what has value and they like coupons. Stop manipulating who set the cookie just because you do not like coupon and promotional sites.
