    Is There Quality Internet Writing?
Anyone can and seemingly everyone does write on the internet - average people who pre-world wide web seldom if ever wrote anything more than a grocery list or a personal check, aspiring writers who in the past would send off their creations in the mail to literary magazines and literary agents, marketers producing pounds of words designed to attract shoppers, and people who now share their innermost thoughts with the world on Facebook, forums, and seemingly three or four trillion blogs.

Cynics would say that virtually all of it is there to convey thoughts and information, but without creativity, style or long-range appeal.

But, lo and behold, such writing has in its midst the inklings of an actual new internet-centric literary style, known as Alt Lit.

The style, often and maybe more correctly described by some chroniclers as a movement, has also been called "New Sincerity", for writers' pervasive attempts to create an aura or impression of sincerity in their works, be they the 140 character instant stories of Twitter or the 1000 word essays of those several trillion blogs.

Are you contributing to the movement? Are your writings on the net in the stye of Alt Lit? Is that something to strive for, or is it all a crock that will fade from memory in a year or two? Can embracing the style help you sell coffee makers from Target or prom dresses from Macy's?

Here is a nicely written and sincere article that provides an overview of Alt Lit: "Alt Lit: The Latest Internet Writing Trend" and here is a more detailed chronicle of the style from New Yorker magazine: "If Walt Whitman Vlogged"

What do you think - is Alt Lit an actual literary style, or movement, that will be discussed in literature classes in 2034? Can it work for affiliate marketing?

Sure, it is becoming a "style" - in that is has become acceptable to write with limited vocabulary, poor phrasing, bad spelling (often corrected to an incorrect word via spellcheck) and/or lack or grammar. It is a style fully embraced by writers exhibiting those characteristics. The "Alt Lit" moniker reeks of an old fart recalling his "browsing" days of using Lynx to read Newsgroups - y'know, prior to Netscape 1.0.

But if the message is conveyed, who am I to argue. It works, evidently, for those using it. It also serves an another "article idea" or "story starter" for those myriad bloggers about whom you mentioned, Dawg.
