Betty Mills DataFeed: 3rd Party Tools
    ABW community and Affiliates,

We are gearing up for the re-release of our datafeed on our new affiliate platform that we launched back in March.

By that I mean that we will be distributing our feed to a few of the 3rd party syndication tools that we had been supporting in the past.

The question I have is, which tools are of most interest to you, and are their any that we should look into that we are not already considering.

Here is the short list that we had supported in the past that we are looking to partner with again.

    • GoldenCan
    • PopShops
    • Datafeedr

Can you let us know which of these are most important to you, and if there are any others that you would like to see us engage with.

    Thanks !

None of the above. If I can't get a datafeed via ftp I can't integrate it and I will need to stop hoping. I signed up with the new platform a long time ago and I have been filling in all the holes with Amazon since the old platform died, but I guess it is time to give up hope and move on. It would have been nice to know that when the old one stopped, it would not ever be available again.

2Busy, once we go live their should be the capability in the new system to surgically grab brands, categories or items you are interested in apart from the 3rd party tools. Not sure if that will work for you, but once it launches I'll announce here.

Definitely, that will be fine, I will hang in there. Thank you for the help! I don't suppose a timeframe estimate is possible? I won't just write it off - only hope it doesn't come in the ramp up for 4th Qtr because I will be 2busy then..

My first priority is GoldenCan, followed by PopShops.

As long as the feed given to them is well categorized I'll use it.

    Straight feed is nice also.

(shouldn't have capitalized it) no -- that's just putting your feed through something like WebMerge.

I'm going to try to "get active" with BettyMills again after doing little or nothing for the last year or so.

I would give priority to using the straight datafeed, too, with GoldenCan being my second choice. (I quit PopShops long ago because it was too expensive and the support had declined.)

The reason I would prefer the straight datafeed is that I have software which would use the datafeed to build large sections of the products displayed in categories.

Yes, straight data feed. That would be great.

The first iteration of our datafeed should allow you to fetch products links from BM your affiliate portal. It's should have been out by now, but we encountered a bug that is in process as we speak. Should be able to release this shortly once the bug is worked out.

BettyMills is still showing as an active script in the cc3scripts (Cusimano's scripts) lineup. How are they delivering the feed or do they use an API? Just curious how they have stayed active through all the upheavals, it is one option. Is that script really active?

A sad way to run an affiliate program.

They still maintain a forum here, which I would like to block. I stopped using Betty Mills when they stopped supporting affiliates.

Folks, we do support our affiliates. We have just had a challenge justifying the cost of GC.

If we can drum up enough support from affiliates looking to use it, we will do it.

Maybe I should start a separate thread for that??

GC links don't work when you try to do subcategories because the ID's keep changing and then you have the whole feed.
I quit using GC a long time ago, and it was hard to get the search engines to return a 404 when the links weren't there anymore.

What is it then that we are not doing to support the affiliates? We've got a great platform with a number of unique campaigns for our free Omaha Steaks giveaway, Snack Rewards $15 giveaway and other programs.

    Help me out here !

    Thanks,

    Vic,
Doesn't cake support affiliates downloading the 3 different feeds like before?
I'm not familiar with how the cake platform works, but it takes us affiliates time to setup a feed on a site and make it unique.
I see more and more merchants using the amazon cloud to host their images, but I don't believe to many are hosting their feeds that way.

BettyMills feed was disabled at popshops(just noticed today, could be earlier).

    Care to share why?

It's related to the feed, it can be turned on but again it's an issue of how many here are using it.

Let me run a quick poll.
