So, are you sports affiliates promoting the FIBA World Cup?

This type of international competition usually interferes with US professional leagues, however, this competition is during the NBA off season. But, like always seems to happen, major injuries occur, and they have far-reaching ramifications.

I wrote about this early this week, and a couple of days later Indiana Pacers' star Paul George suffered a major, season-ending, career-threatening injury.

Should professional stars jeopardize their careers to play for their national teams? Should pro leagues like the NBA encourage it, should they merely allow it, or should they prohibit it? Should individual player contracts cover it - is it something to bargain for like salaries and other perks?

I'm sorry to say it, but it is more than likely that George's injury will not be the last major injury of the competition.
