    Using Affiliate Links Over AdSense
Excellent article by long time member Tricia Meyer:

A lot of bloggers use AdSense to monetize their sites, and you can definitely make good money from it. Sometimes you have content that is difficult to monetize in any other way and the AdSense links blend in to provide you some revenue.

However, there are definitely down sides to using AdSense to monetize your blog as compared to affiliate marketing. Here’s a great example that I ran into on one of my own sites this week.

Tricia provides a good example of the down side of "indiscriminate" use of AdSense and also provides info on alternative monetization. AdSense can be a fine income producer when used properly - as an adjunct to affiliate marketing.

The bulk of my income is from affiliate marketing but AdSense has been very, very good to me over the last (nearly) 11 years. Almost exactly 6 years ago it enabled me to buy a really nice toy - and pay cash.

Tilapia? No, that's not a "toy." That's something I find on a plate in a restaurant.
