I sent a customer to an ebay link, not realising they were aol users, they emailed me back as they wanted to contact the seller, and could not due to a cookie problem with aol, this is the link they sent me to look at
    http://cgi.aol.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...category=22723

its their own branded ebay, they must be making a bomb!

They took your Ebay link? At least they didn't take anything of real value!

    Intersting.

So AOL is automatically redirecting standard eBay URL's to a branded host at eBay.

What needs to be checked is whether or not this is stopping CJ commissions (both instant and cookied).

Any new news on this? If they are stealing my ebay cookie (mmmm, cookies) then I would consider that a greater threat than those awful theftware programs (specifically those run by Mansour and Saeid Yomtobian of Encino, California, the father-son internet Nazis). Even though AOL is losing subscribers by the second because they overcharge and all of their programs are horribly buggy, there are still many millions of people that actually pay AOL money for internet access. I don't want AOL making money off my ebay links, with their awful programs and horrible business sense, they do not deserve that money.

I guess we need to find an AOL subscriber with a deep understanding of the Internet.

    Any ideas? :^)

I don't know how DEEP you need me to be, however, early this morning my new girlfriend, who is on AOL, registered at eBay and I got ZAPPED (lead extended) by eBay for an "unknown" reason. The only conclusion I can come to without blatently blaming eBay is to blame AOL. So, I guess that, without the ability to know my valued partners motives, or my trackability, I'm screwed ut of the transaction, which is as deep as I can be~!

Brian, could you please tell us exactly what happened when your girlfriend clicked on your link, if that's what she did?

LOL ..."Ah, yes the thousand hours, is that still to be used within thirty 24hr days?"

Seems to sum up the intelligence of those who'd even fall for this AOL huckster Ad campaign. Both eBay and AOL are Ad whores and commissions are the last thing on their affiliate managers minds.

Cyclone, the lead got extended because in order to get the $5 commission someone needs to register and bid, not just register.

    Yes.

Brian, get your new girlfriend to place a bid on an auction, and keep an eye on that lead payment.

Can you also please confirm that after clicking on your link, her aol browser redirected her to cgi.aol.ebay.com (or whatever it is).

If that is the case, then it appears CJ originated leads still make it through.
