Does anyone have tips on how to build an email list?
Hi everyone, I'm just starting out with affiliate marketing. A lot of people tell you that you should build an email list because that's the best way and the long-term way to do it. Is an email list really that important, and how should I build my email list?

Same question in the thread at http://www.abestweb.com/forums/midni...ls-181103.html

Find a good tool like the one mentioned above, then offer something of value to convince your audience to opt-in. Then respect that list and be selective about what you email them and don't abuse it.

    Good luck.

Yep, If you know how to maintain your list, then yes your list is really THAT important. For building your list, you'll first need to build a squeeze page and drive traffic to it.

What is your niche? Suppose you're working in the SEO niche. Build a blog, and give some killer SEO techniques. Suppose you give some uncommon sources of generating backlinks, people would be impressed.

Place a box for collecting email so that if the readers are interested then they'll give you their emails. you can also schedule a popup after 2 min of a user being on your page, this is really going to effective.

Give an incentive to people to subscribe to your list. You can give them a free E-book or something else of value that would make them subscribe to your list.

    Start small
Start small. Thatís the most important thing.

You do not have to create a big email marketing machine overnight.
The most important thing is to remember is to Get started!

Get some momentum, put what you have learned into action, and build on that momentum over time.

    And then donít quit.

You may not get hudge results over time, but some months from now youíll have a bigger list than you do today, and soon your business will be in a totally different position if you keep at it.

To succeed with email (or anything worthwhile) Ė youíve got to keep at it, week after week, year after year!

Give value - bottom line. Offer some nice value for subscribing, then over-deliver . Not in terms of volume sent, but in terms of the quality content you offer.

Here's a tactic that we just recently implemented which seems to be working. First join a lead page service that can be use to collect emails and store them in another account like Mailchimp. Then create a free giveaway (e.g. a downloadable document that someone can use for advice / guidance that isn't easily found on the web).

To help people find your valuable offer, use advertising (we're using FB ads and Google Adwords). When people click to the page you've setup, all they have to do it enter their email address to receive a copy of that file. And thus your email list will start to grow.

It's also probably wise to make sure you have a small disclaimer somewhere that tells them they will occasionally receive marketing emails from you.

    Good luck! -Joe
