One of the most powerful ways to use social media is as a brand-building tool. With social media, you get to decide how you want to position your company and what you want people to know about what you do. With consistent effort and great content, you can build a reputation for your brand around your company’s values, benefits, and advantages

I agree with Nirali. Social media is about building a name and a brand. In general, I don't necessarily think you can make money with social media. It's simply a way of spreading the word and getting to know others. If they want to make a purchase, it's probably because they WANT to...not because a social media post told them to. -Joe

Is social media a good way to find affiliates as an affiliate manager? Would an affiliate even consider visiting a merchant's page if they advertised for affiliates via social media?

As a general principle, no, but if you join some Affiliate Marketing FB Groups, then perhaps to that type of a specialized audience. Similarly, if you have a Twitter account focused on followers who are affiliates, then maybe there, too.
