March 6th, 2015, 04:25 PM #1Is there a way to get individual product image and text links other than datafeed?
Hopefully someone will answer my question here Am a persistent lil thing. umm given my experience so far tho umm not counting on it. lol
Ok, thought was best to ask this question in the "Questions" thread here but is an old thread and it won't let me post in it without checking some box stating I realize is an old thread. (umm, which I have been asking for help in finding this box but sadly my question seems to be getting ignored, well not quite ignored...will just say not having anyone tell me how I can find this lil box so I can make my post. ) Seen it in the past but have a feelin maybe when the change to the forum was made, maybe it somehow disappeared or lil gremlins are just having fun messin with me.
So, here's my long awaited question
Sorry to pester you again with another question but here goes:
Not sure if I'm missing this option or it just doesn't exist. (If that's the case not sure if this should be in your "Feature Request" thread or not. If so could a moderator please move this)
Realize you have a datafeed option but I only use datafeeds from one network. (Am a datafeed dummy and they have the only datafeed option I can understand. Am attempting to learn a lotta other things at the moment and don't think my lil brain is up for the challenge of learning datafeeds on top of everything else. I could attempt to do so but think my brain would probably explode and that doesn't sound very nice. Lil as it may be brain I'm working with now would be better than an exploded one )
Is there any way to get a link for an individual product from a merchant (an image link and a text link for it)
I did try to find out if this option was available but didn't see anything regarding it (or at least those merchants I'm affiliated with I didn't see that option) I apologize if there is some mention about this. Honestly did look but couldn't find anything.
Thank you in advance

The very best thing about the IR interface is that at the top left of the Home page is a link generator - they call it their "Tracking Link Generator". Use the "Campaigns" drop-down to pick the merchant, then click the "Advanced" link. Then paste the url of the page on the merchant site to which you want to link in the "Landing Page" box, and in the top "Sub ID" box you can add text so you can track which link was clicked for a transaction. Once you complete all this, the affiliate link is automatically generated, and you can then copy it.
Use this code for a text link:
Paste the affiliate link into the code where the "XXXX" is and then put whatever text you want where the "YYYY" is.
You can also add target="_blank" so when clicked the merchant page will open in a new window:
And/Or code for no follow:
<a href="XXXX"rel="nofollow" target="_blank">YYYY</a>
To make this an image link, replace the text with this code: <img alt="icon" border="0" src="ZZZZ"> so you have this:
<a href="XXXX"rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img alt="icon" border="0" src="ZZZZ"></a>
Then replace the "ZZZZ" with the image code.
Most merchant sites allow you to copy the image code from any product image - though more and more make it harder technically to do so. Right click on the image you want, and the drop down should show something like "Copy Image Location" [that's what you see on a Mac, not sure for PCs]. Then, paste that image url where the "ZZZZ" is and you have an affiliate image link.
Check out the last few posts in this thread for info on changing the sizes of an image in the url.

Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!! Really appreciate you taking the time Phil to explain that to me. Never in a million years would I have figured out that's how you did it. lol Pssssssst now this is just between the two of us so nobody else realizes just how much of a dummy I really am. lol Actually have seen the "Tracking Link Generator" before but umm I thought it was similar to the default link other networks (specifically the old GAN) had. Saw it in beginning, figured that's what it was and never bothered to look at it again.
Just one other question, don't remember which merchant or even the network but remember seeing alt="icon" in the link before. I can change "icon" to my own description for the alt tag, correct? "Icon" doesn't have to be in there for tracking purposes, correct?
Thank you again very much for explaining this to me, really do appreciate it

You're very welcome, PB.
And, you're correct - you do not have to have the alt="icon" and can change the "icon" (should have mentioned that, too). Nothing in that part of the link involves tracking, that is all in the url generated by the link generator.
