Well, I crossed over into the realm of the unknown.

I have my first two commission checks sitting on my desk at home. One from AMAZON and the other from COMMISSION JUNCTION. Not large, by any means, but you know the feeling that you get when you receive that first check right?

I opened to the public September 1st. Took just junder two months.

Patrobas,

WOOO HOOO!

I remember when I got my first CJ check It was nice .... and then the whistle made it even better, but I felt like a dork using it even though I collect Lionel Trains

Way to GO!

What do you have to do to get a whistle?

Do you have to say nice things? Nah that can't be it...

Its an amount, isn't it? But I forgot if it was sales or commissions.

I think it's $100 you have to earn.
I've earned over 30 times that amount, but no whistle.
Apparently they don't ship whistles to international publishers.
I've even offered for them to deduct the cost of the shipping from my CJ balance, but still no whistle..

I should go & buy something kooky that makes noises the next CJ check I get, just so I can get excited every now & then.

CJ sends their whistle to international publishers too. I received mine over a year ago here in Vienna, Austria.

All the best,

Congrats, Patrobas!

It's $100 for a whistle. LOL...that is, you have to make $100 to get a whistle!

I remember the first checks I got, too. I danced around yelling CHA-CHING for a long time! Remember not to smear the ink from holding onto them tightly!

Haiko--there's no need to feel like a dork! Unlike a regular job an entire office isn't going to see you blowing on it

It sure beats the cheapie post-it notes that Overture sent out, too!

oh man, I was under the impression they stopped doing the whistle thing (or stopped only for internationals).
Everyone I talk to says they got there's over a year ago, so I could be right.

Poor little ole me has to go around blowing my own trumpet
& this after I've just had my best month ever, without even touching my sites. I've been studying hard for school, but finish in 3 weeks. Then I'm full time self-empoyed on my web sites.

B.T.W., as self-empoyed, what do you all call yourself when someone asks "what do you do?"
I often just say 'self-empoyed' on forms, but in person they try & squeeze more info out of you.
I hate the term webmaster, & often se 'online-sales', 'affiliate marketer', 'online marketing'.
If anyone else has any clues as to who we really are, let me know...

Haiko: this board is now heaps faster than it was a few days back.. probably that code you removed.

LOL. I like the billionaire in training.

As for coder, say that to someone in the pub & get some wierd looks.

I'm trying to move away from the computer-nerd image, while maintaining what I do does require some knowledge (html, php, marketing, ad-copy, market research, promotion, s.e. optimisation), but is not so nerdy. maybe mission impossible
