I just signed up for a new program at GoClick.com, displaying their popunders for $2.50 per 1000 impressions.

Their stats bear no resemblance to my own, but I can accept that a certain percentage of surfers turn off cookies and run software which disables popups/unders, so I have to go with that for now.

What frustrates me is that I don't seem to have received full credit for the popunders I HAVE displayed.

Goclick claim this is due to successive ROUNDINGs. They say that they can only pay full cents, not part cents. If I have made a fraction of a cent by the end of an accounting period then I lose that fraction

I have asked them what constitutes an 'accounting period' but so far have had no response.

Anybody else any experience in this area?

Microdot, I tried the pop-unders with another company and got the same results. My stats would show about 2000 uniques to the pages but the popups would only show about 2-300 imps. They loaded fast too so I have been weary of them since.

I can relate totally. I tried a program called exitfuel. Not only was the tracking only about 20% of my figures but they popup 5 windows from that one starting window.

Thanks anyway

I even went so far as to try popuptraffic and had the same exact problem.

Popups and unders are tools of the desperate. Nice way of flogging your hard earned visitors for coming to your site in the first place. Next step is for trojan virus programs that pop-up Ads like a swarm of killer bees when you close down your browser to get rid of the other pests. Come on you Ad agency wanks ...we know what really works. Send a beautiful sexy sales chick to our door and let her sit beside us and show us her best merchant wares on our Internet machines. Make sure she has a weekly medical checkup so as not to leave more than a lasting impression as she helps remove all sales resistance. This also would add relevence to the words POPups and POPunders and cure select merchants poor conversion ratios. Don't forget to tip her as she's on minimum wages and lives off of gratuities.

I'll create an appropriate web site as the Advertising "Pimp Daddy" to recruit the willing girls and signup affiliate enabled merchants needing a sales boost. Display participating merchant banners in the shopping section, add in localized Pizza/Wine/Beer delivery service ( Pimp fee enabled), and include a appointment form ( Pick a girl photo/bio POPup link)for those who know when their wives/girlfriends are not at home. Those seeking Fredricks of Hollywood fashions can opt-in for live modeling....at 2.00 per minute with a guaranteed minimum pre-paid purchase of 200.00. I'll offer webmasters 5 cents per clickthrough and FREE left over Pizza.

Customers who average more than 5 "Shop@Home" monthly visits are automatically enrolled in a free monthly drawing of a case of Viagra. Disclaimers and warnings would be posted advising web patrons that this form of advertising/shopping can become addictive with a 1-800# to counceling hotline run by volunteer local divorce attornies. I'm on my way to "super affiliate" status as I break through the 2.00 per month commission Barrier at Playboy and Fredricks of Hollywood. @Home Sales girl transportation furnished by Priceline -Cars.com and CarPoint for a promotional fee.

Target audience getting a closer look at the merchandise!!

Don't think clothing optional ads would work well with Pagans...You know, too mundane

microdot,

I think a "better" alternative than a pop-up network would be your own controlled up under using a PPC program. Tracking will be "better" and less "annoying".

I hear ya Haik, and fully agree with comments on popups/unders.

I hate visiting a site that displays hordes of popups, then opens new ones when the originals are closed

I just thought a quiet little popunder would be a nice way to pay my hosting fees after reading a post elsewhere on ABW to that effect.

Think I'll just repeat my findings to GoClick's support team and then ditch them

Here's a copy of my email to GoClick.Com

Wonder if they'll respond?

-- snip --

Dear Sirs,

Since employing your popunder code on my sites at http://www.joke-zone.co.uk and http://www.jokething.com, the sites have received 3609 unique visitors.

As the popunder code is embedded in the HTML of every single joke page, any visitor
viewing even a single joke triggers the code.

My popunder stats at your site indicate that only 760 popunders have been displayed,
which would mean that a popunder had been displayed for just under 21% of the total
number of visitors.

As your statistics are updated only every three to six hours I am unable to check their
accuracy. Additionally it appears that the level of payment actually received for
popunders displayed is subject to 'billing periods' which cause further loss of revenue
due to 'rounding problems'. Frankly I fail to see why any rounding is required.

My requests for clarification in these matters remain unanswered (see below).

I have now withdrawn your popunder code from my sites as the enjoyment of my sites
by visitors to them is of more value than my earnings to date on your program.

I will be posting information about my experience at Abestweb, a webmaster / afilliate
forum of which I am a member.

In the spirit of fair play here's a link to the post, where you can post your own comments
should you find the time.
http://www.abestweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/...c&f=6&t=000105

Thankyou.

Regarding Goclick:

We have been working with this company for the last couple of months and have had no problems. Support is great and email response times are fantastic. I will contact the owner regarding this thread.

Nathan:

Nice to see you. Feel free to email info@popupsponsor.com or myself regarding your tracking problems.

I have read about your company on Searchengineforums.

http://searchengineforums.com/bin/fo...ries&number=34

I have also received emails from your company regarding a search partnership. I am still waiting for a response to my email. Please feel free to contact me if you still wish to pursue a partnership. We currently work with over 10 different pay-per-click search engines and are always open to new partnerships if the conditions are favorable to both parties.

Well Lawrence, it would seem that you must have asked questions that they WANTED to answer, 'cos I STILL haven't heard from them

Doesn't add up to good support in my books!
