Backlink is a hyperlink that links from a Web page, back to your own Web page or Web site. Quality could also be defined as a link back from an high authoritative .edu, .gov or .com
Quality backlinking is nothing but that links to your Web site using your keywords or keyword phrase, and also appears on a Web site that has the same theme or similar content topic as your own Web site.

SEO strategies have changed a lot in a couple of years. Quality backlinks are the base of ranking on search engines these days. They are the links to your site using your keyword phrase on other site with same content.

A quality backlink is a backlink from a site that is authority in your field of expertise. If you are a lumberjack in a village, having a link from the townhall of your village's website, or from a "lumberjack association" of some sort, is a quality backlinks. They are hard to get and they are extremely powerful.

You know what we all would benefit from on this site? A "Brainfart" button next to everyone's nickname. So if I click on a particular person's "Brainfart" button, I can no longer see his/her/callmecaitlyn future posts for a month.

@ login - AFAIK you can list the members you wish to ignore and not be bothered with seeing their posts. Just go to "Settings" in the top right menu, then in the list on the left, under "My Account" you can "Edit Ignore List" to add bothersome post authors to your Ignore List.

For me, the confusion starts with what this has to do with "Programming / Datafeeds / Tools"?

For me quality backlinking has several meaning, you can have a link on a powerful site (let's say a .edu ), but if it's not in a contextual zone, it's worthless. My theory is that google has a "text rank" ( like a page rank for text ), and they are able to evaluate the weight of a text. So it's better to have a link where there is a lot of text, that means it's not worth spamming empty pages with your link, it's only going to send a weak signal. Of course what do i know, this is just suppositions i have really no clue

Getting backlinks – links from other websites to your business’s website – is the most effective way to improve your rankings. Not all backlinks are equal though. Some backlinks won’t improve your rankings at all, and some might even have a negative effect. Therefore, your focus should be on acquiring high quality backlinks.
What makes a backlink high quality is subjective, and every SEO consultant will have at least a slightly differing opinion on the topic, however, most would agree that a good quality backlink would be comprised of several of the factors listed below, and that a back link that ticks all of these boxes would be the perfect backlink.
It would be unrealistic to expect all of your back links to be perfect, and just because a backlink doesn’t meet all of these criteria it doesn’t make it low quality. If you can get a backlink to your business’s website that ticks at least a few of these boxes then it’s definitely worth having in your site’s link profile.
    From a relevant source
Search engines want to provide relevance in their search results, and so it’s logical that relevance is a consideration when they evaluate backlinks, which are the primary factor affecting where sites rank in their results. A backlink can be relevant on different levels. Search engines consider the overall relevance of the linking site, the relevance of the specific page with the link on it, and the relevance of the content directly surrounding the link.
    1.From a trusted source
    2.Sends traffic
3.Exact/phrase/synonym match anchor link text used
    4.In-content
    5.On a page with PageRank
6.Next to backlinks to authority websites
7.From a different source to your existing backlinks
    8.Not reciprocal
9.Few other backlinks on the page
    10.Not easily acquired

Quality definitely trumps quantity now - hence to the comments above about how things have changed. It's definitely a good thing though. If you have a quality site with quality content that people want to read, then you'll be rewarded naturally. Of course, you can speed up the process yourself through various tactics but be sure the links are quality, relevant and ensure your anchor text is diversified.

Backlink is a hyperlink that links from a webpage, back to your own web page or website. Backlink is now so important in any kind of marketing dimensions. To increase your page authority you should have quality backlink.

Now lets talk about quality backlink. Quality backlink means your link should be placed in a good website which has reputed value in the market.

I suggest you should try to create quality back link with the leading website not just to create backlink which has less PA and DA.
