    Don't You Hate Reversals Week?
Ah, the first week - 10 days of the month... A time when my reversals eat into my profits in a big way... It is a bummer. I guess this time around has been more pronounced due to the July 4th holiday slowdown. So reversal coupled with slow sales = big bummer!

So I just figured out how to create poll's, so I'll make this post into one :-)

Merchants, any data you provide to Google Shopping should also be in your affiliate network datafeed. More data means more sales!

I think some AM or whoever sets back an waits till it is about to lock before reversing the sales.
Where's the Great Life of Affiliate Marketing Hiding?

Reversal is another area of affiliate business where it is solely based on your trust of a merchant.

A while back, I had a big ticket sale reversed 40 some days after the sale was recorded. I checked the merchant's return policy, it is 30 days. So I emailed the AM and asked for the prove of the reversal. The AM said that the item was returned before 30 days, they didn't record it right away. There is nothing I can do but take what they said and suck it up.

Lock date is generally by the 10th for the previous month unless you negotiate with the network for a longer period. So merchants/AMs are rushing to gather all chargebacks by the 10th of the following month.

I got a reversal two months after the sale was recorded.

How much do we trust a merchant when they say the reversal was happened within the 30 day return period and they simply didn't record it right away?

Such a shame. When Jill and I ran the original GirlyChecks program we never charged back a cancelled or returned order. We believed that if an order was placed by an affiliate-referred customer the affiliate did their job - and it was up to us (and our fulfillment company) to do our job.

I have always been used to 20% or so non-consumed rooms in the hotel reservations vertical but I see very, very few reversals in the checks vertical (now that we are back running GirlyChecks as strictly an affiliate site).
