Find the affiliate programs that sell the products in the niche you picked. Then you can write after reviewing their site and competitors sites offering the best product. Start with the "end in mind" i.e. you are creating a blog to sell a product and get a commission.

My number one source for research: The public library

caveat - that is for content other than political and sports-related. For that I use primarily current news reports (TV and radio, newspapers, then and only then other internet sources) and my fertile brain
Since June 10, 2012 a vegan aarf but still writing the Hound Dawg Sports Blog

Honestly, if you blog about a niche you are already an expert in (which you should). You should already know sources. If you keep up on the stuff that is. One of the greatest sources to start is your own mind and what you already know.

If you want to find reliable sources for writing blogs read different niche related blogs, books, magazines, or newspapers. You may also ask experts in the niche related field.

+1 - do you have any favorite blogs you follow that are in your niche?

It would be great If you could take a look on other sites in your niche.
This will help you to get content ideas.
Do find some active blogs in your niche and check them on regular basis to get content ideas from them.

My #1 is using what I'll refer to as "primary sources". For example, if you're in the health niche cdc.gov would be one. Read from a few different sites like that and I'm sure you'll get great ideas. If it is a great primary source, they're constantly putting up more articles and studies. Just spend a little time everyday reading and keeping up with them. Sure, you can use others blogs for concept ideas, but I typically don't as I'm careful to be original and not allow others opinion dictate my own.

Another source you can use are videos. Watching videos related to your particular niche can give you some inspiration on what to say in the content you write. Plus, some information is better expressed in visual form so the concepts you form in your head are better understood. So when you go back to the drawing board you'll have a lot of ideas for the content you can write about.
