Quoted google search: good keyword data?
Is doing a quoted "long tail keyword" Google search useful keyword research?

When you put a word or phrase in quotes, the results will only include pages with the same words in the same order as the ones inside the quotes. Only use this if you're looking for an exact word or phrase, otherwise you'll exclude many helpful results by mistake.
    Example: "imagine all the people"

If I target that exact long tail keyword, am I competing against the 19k results? or the 36 million?

"how to shine shoes" 19k results
how to shine shoes 36milion results

yep that's the number to my understanding that you are competing against. Still a huge number.
