What the... Nitroclicks must be having a special on spam this month.

What happened, the manager order too much? New model coming out soon? Going out of business?

I remember the days when Spam was grammatically correct & spelled properly... where have the good ole days gone?

When will these NitroClicks people get the hint?

My 3 cents...

Lol. I hate spam too

But maybe it's a good idea to make a thread where everybody gets a chance to spam with all their affiliatelinks?

Good idea or what?

We had one going in the test forum. I thought it was great. I spammed for my newsletter. Of course, I have to write the silly thing...

I hate spamm just like all the others and use www.spamcop.net daily to report it. I just went through the conversion of Excite @HOME to Comcast.net for cable modem service. Real hassle since 200,000 others had to have this done by the 28th of Feb. I thought this would at least bouncce all the spammers who trolled the @HOME e-mail database WTF everyone of those abusers now get their crap forwarded through @comcast.net.

Has any one emailed nitroclicks the url to this thread to see if they approve of promoting their program in this manner?

That would be a bad idea.

1 - you would get a lot of drive by spamming.
2 - abw would get a reputation for being a spammers paradise.
3 - people would sign up and post once just to get their 2 cents worth of spam posted.
4 - there are better ways to promote programs.

If you read the t.o.a or t.o.s of some programs it states that they don't want you promoting their links in forums or newsgroups etc. I don't know why but my theory is that it reflects badly on those programs/companies, especially if it is deemed by readers as spam.

Ask nitroclicks how they feel about this thread.

Your affiliates have been spamming search engines and, the context of THIS letter...abestweb.com discussion board with their affiliate links. Is this part of your TOS???
Here is the text of the spam and the affiliate link posted on abestweb.com discussion board:

While on the subject of spam.
I'm new here so am wondering what the prevailing feelings are in this forum in reference to affiliate links. On some other forums even a suggestion to "try this program" is regarded as spam.
Let's say someone asks for a recomendation for a particular type of program, and i reply with an affiliate link. Is this a no-no? I see that some people do that here occasionally.
I detest spam myself, and I would never just throw in or push a link just for the sake of promoting it, but if it is to help somebody who is actually requesting the "information", I am wondering if it is acceptable to include it in a post.
THANKS

I do not think a direct answer to a direct question should be considered spam. Unless, of course, it's a tag team thing where someone "plants" a question just so someone else can answer.

One thing I've seen done, and I've started doing, is to include a plain, non-tracking link as well as one's affiliate link, when mentioning a merchant, service, etc.. Then the reader can decide whether to check it out through the referral link or not.

I always put:

For the spam conscious:
"url without referral link"

For those who want to feed me:
"url with link"

Heck, I figure there are very few Affiliate Marketers that are in this to be poor, right? So why not at least give them an option. That way, if they appreciate a solid answer, they can scratch your back too.

Hate to sound like the cynic of the group but it looks like another case of "sorry for being busted".

Personally, I have no problem with established members of A Best Web putting up affiliate links but do some people really think that drive by spamming works?

I thought it was Haiko's rule that only moderators could put up affiliate links.

Sort of like a bonus for their work here.
