Anyone use individual product linking to t-shirt king? Could not find a "private affiliate program forum" so hope its OK to post here.

ALL of my links to individual pages at T-ShirtKing no longer work. I checked stats and have not had clickthroughs since September 10th. I have e-mailed them and am waiting for a reply.

Anyone else seeing this? I'll post response from them here.

Andy;

I've got the same problem. Thanks for alerting me to it. I just sent this to my contact there. I'll let you know what I hear back ...

I see T-Shirt king has done a site redesign. Did you know that the redesign has resulted in most of the links at CJ no longer working? The only ones that work are the ones that point directly at the main page. However, I use a lot of direct product links and a lot of links where I use the URL redirect feature, and none of them work. I think it's because all of the product pages are on T-shirtking2.com instead of on T-shirtking.com. Will the product pages be staying at T-shirtking2.com or will they be going back to T-shirtking.com (I hope it's the latter, so I don't have to recode everything).

Regards;
Ed

Are T-Shirt King with CJ? I joined them as private affilate program. Have their own stats (which BTW do not show any of the navigation graphics anymore - images not found).

OK, just checked. T-shirt king have CJ program as well as in house system. I use the inhouse system anyway, so at least we know it is not just one or other system.

Makes me nervous when a merchant pulls something like this. By making all linking "bad" they can evaluate how much profit could be made without help of affiliates. See whether to continue affiliate program or not.

I hope it is just me being paranoid.

Old Glory did the same thing!!!

CJ should make to against their terms to do this to affiliates without warning or notice that they have done this!!!

Still no reply from t-shirt King. Maybe I should e-mail them again. Anyone know a support address? I used the e-mail address they use to send commission notices. Only one I could find.

If this is as simple as a slight domain change, it might be possible to do a global search and replace on the damaged link code.

What I would do is go grab just one new custom product link and compare it to an old one and see if a simple change could be found that is easily corected.

I had hoped it would be that simple but when I went to check it out a few days ago it is not. The domain is the same, the URL of each product is now completely different.
On top of that if you use the old instructions for creating individual product linking they dont work. So here I am having created (and Googled earlier this month for next idexz) a 50 page t-shirt site and not a single product link working.

T-Shirt King has screwed this up badly.

Anyone know of any other t-shirt merchants?

Wow!

I apologize for the inconvenience our site rebuild has cost you.

My name is Bill Broadbent and I'd like to quickly explain what has happened. In short, we ran in to a few unexpected problems and created problems for our affiliates which was followed by poor commmunication resulting in great shame on our part. Again, we all apologize for not communicating earlier.

For months we have been working on a website that would bring more to our customers. As we were building the site, the traffic also grew. When we finally switched (ironically) to larger servers to handle additional traffic, the servers had problems. We quickly did what we could to get everything operating but it hasn't been easy.

I promise you that you will not be out commissions, we will figure something to compensate you that I believe you will think is fair. We do need a few days to gather ourselves together and look at the damage.

To update your links, you should be able to do a find and replace with the new url as icicle suggested. If you had tried this and it didn't work, you might want to try it again. The site was written to the server and re-written a few times and it may have overwritten or changed the link names. They will remain the same for years.

With the new site design, we're hiring an affiliate manager. I hope that everyone will stick it out because there are some great campaigns ahead.

Please feel free to email me with your feelings and ideas.

Thanks.

If you are now following this thread then please check your e-mails. I have sent you two outlining the problems faced with individual product linking and why a replace of product URL does not work.

Thanks for the detailed info.

I easily reproduced the error but I don't have an easy answer yet. I'll be working on it and I'll post the solution as soon as I get it.

Thanks.

Bill,

Will you be sending new product links to Commission Junction? Or have you done that already? The ones I have right now don't work, and I can't edit them myself.

Also, a week ago I was sure that I had seen that I could change my re-direct links just by changing the URLs from T-Shirtking.com to T-shirtking2.com, but now that isn't working anymore. Was I just hallucinating or has the site changed more since last week?

Thanks;
Ed

CJ did get an updated product file but so far it hasn't been updated on the site yet. I'll check in to it.

Thanks.

Finally!

This was a bear trying to figure out why the new shopping cart links would not work with the affiliate program. But, we finally did it.

To link to products directly, use this link

"http://www.t-shirtking.com/cgi-bin/grnd_brk_affil/clickthru.cgi?id=AFFILIATEID&page=http://www.t-shirtking.com/catalog.php?Product_Code=117-00875"

and just change the affiliate id and SKU number (product code).

The first part is the web address and Affiliate ID "http://www.t-shirtking.com/cgi-bin/grnd_brk_affil/clickthru.cgi?id=" After the equals sign, add your ID.

The second part "&page=http://www.t-shirtking.com/catalog.php?Product_Code=117-00875" is the linking url. Every product has a unique code called an SKU Number. If you look on the product page, the SKU Number is listed to the upper right of the image (they are also part of your old links).

To link to a category, use the regular system.

By Monday, the old way of linking should be back and working just fine.

Again, I apologize for the trouble.

Now that it's fixed, we can get on with business.

We have hired "Rick" as our new affiliate manager. He'll have a weekly newsletter with new banners, text links, etc.

Right now, Sesame Street is doing great and Holloween is just around the corner. It's always scary because it is foillowed by the Holiday Seasons. Billions of dollars in licensed t-shirts will be sold in a very short period of time. Be prepared and get your share!

Feel free to email with any questions.

Thanks for your patience!!

As the first to complain and think the worst (us affiliates sometimes do get treated badly), I want to be the first to apologize and say sorry that I ever thought badly of t-shirt king (I do put my feet first before brain engages sometimes). I was upset when these problems started, not because of the revenue I would lose - so far it is only beer money (and only for one day of the month - I am from UK and drink a lot!)- but next month who knows... I was really upset because I really enjoyed receiving e-mails about every sale, and seeing those become more common - I could see a future with T-Shirt King. I hated the thought that bill@t-shirtking.com would no longer grace my inbox. Also of course I hated the thought that my week of work setting up 50+ pages of t-shirts with more to come was wasted when I could have been optimizing pages for Viagra.

Now I see that you are commited to affiliates, I want you to know that I am also now commited to you too. I will do my best to make you one of my best private affiliate programs. Thanks for the e-mails you sent me - even when I was less than kind in this forum. I should have found the correct channel to approach first. Anyway, back to work (on Monday, testing and rebuilding my site), and I hope we have a long a fruitfull relationship.

P.S. Why don´t you get your own forum here. All the best merchants deserve to have an ABW presence!!
