I've just moved and in setting up my computer behind a new Zone Alarm firewall have made the discovery that Linkshare cookies are being blocked on the "Medium" default setting. Reasons being given are that on this setting Zone Alarm "Blocks third-party cookies that do not have a compact privacy policy; Blocks third-party cookies that use personally identifiable information without your implicit consent; Restricts first-party cookies that use personally indentifiable information without implicit consent."

Whats more I also don't seem to be able to overide the block, although I should be able to with the custom settings.

    My questions are:

    (1) Are people aware that Linkshare cookies are being blocked by Zone Alarm users

    (2) Are other popular firewall programs doing the same thing (and is it for a good reason?)

(3)Anyone know a way around it?

    Thanks!

The fault lies with Linkshare - compact policies have been around now for 2 years since the release of Explorer V6. In fact V6 should be blocking the cookies and not Zonealarm. Write to linkshare and ask them why they have not implemented compact policies (very easy to do).

It is IE and not zone alarm that is blocking cookies. I don't have zone alarm and get the same thing.

    Thanks!

Hmmm. Just checked web logs and about 90% of my visitors are using IE 6, so if that's right this can't be good news......

Absolutely rediculous LS hasn't bothered to generate a IE compliant privacy policy and properly post it for passing all browser tests.

This is costing affiliates quite a bit of lost sales. And I am sure Linkshare makes a part of the money affiliates make. So is it in their best interest to do this. It is crazy that they don't consider this a top priority.
