Everybody knows what I use, it isn't a secret So who wants to share what they are using to cloak/redirect links? Or protect your income from parasites?

I know Haiko said he would be moving other threads here, but lets get some new discussion open anyway

Well, so far I have two responses that have not enough info for anybody to be able to investigate what you are doing. It would be nice to know what these things are and how to use them. I guess I should have been more clear. After all, I am getting bashed for talking about something that costs money, so if you folks have solutions that are less expensive or even *gasp* free, do tell. In a little more detail.

Learnt how to use a jump script reading previous posts and then added links into a mysql database and called them up from there...

Did't spend any money on it - couldn't afford to...just did searches here and on the net and learnt...then learnt php and also added mod rewrites...asked a few experts here some questions and most were very helpful.

Dynamic database sites (LSQL and similar) use a jump style redirect.

On some static sites built from my own scripts, I reverse the URL and bounce it off a script on another of my domains that re-reverses it and redirects.

There is freeware from Focalmedia called ClickTracker That will not only cloak the links but has a control panel to track the clicks. I use some of their other software and have been very happy.

Requires MySQL, Unix/Linux, and cgi-bin access, and they have a demo on their page.

I installed goredirect the other day. It is very simple and work very well.
You need php and MySQL, it is database driven.
    To find it, Google "goredirect".

I have looked for a solution for some time. Within minutes of finding it, I had it working.

I lost my sig and haven't added the link back in yet, I use LinksSql with a jump.cgi that comes with it. It isn't a free program, so it isn't used by many folks here, or at least not by many that actually admit it Those that are using it are having pretty good luck.

well there is nothing wrong with linsSQL, nothing shady about it at all, why would people not admit it?

Its just like any other good directory script, only this one is a little more polished. A jump script just jumps to the link, set up correctly bots wont follow it, no biggie

People don't admit it because they don't want the rest of the world to know It is much more than a directory script, it has tons of great features.

For some reason, the idea of paying for software makes people around here crazy.

I can't afford anything so I made my own.. works well considering most of my tables don't share same design or column names.. real mess it is.

    I don't really use anything.

I probably should be though, my sales stink and perhaps this is part of the problem.

For the main products which I affiliate for I use a gigantic redirection script, which uses two arrays to store 'names' & 'urls' and redirects to the urls by calling the script with the name as a parameter.

    Sorta like go?here

What's the bottom line? How much more do you think you earn by doing this as opposed to just putting the links on your site in the normal manner?
