Talk about no affiliate support!

Just got off the phone with them (granted, they did return my call -- though they have never responded to an email). I can't contact a merchant directly because they have over 20,000 affiliates and "what if they all wanted to contact merchants." I said "you think you have more affiliates than CJ or LS?" and she said "well no, but we have a different management structure."

    No kidding.

This month I will have sold just under $20,000 worth of merchandise for the merchant I want to contact -- I thought that might get me something. Nope.

And the "Affiliate Rep"? She'll talk to the merchant about the issue I want raised, but she "seriously doubts anything will come of it".

Sound like someone you want working as your advocate?

Was there no way of contacting the merchant using different emails on the merchant site?

No doubt their approach is far different than other places, but what the heck we make money from them.

No "affiliate" contact on the merchant's site (they don't even list that they have an affiliate program on the merchant site), and I tried their generic "contact us" link, but to no avail.

I may make money off of them, but I have a competitor of theirs that pays 3% more than they do and that's why I was trying to contact them -- to see if they would up their % so I didn't start trading out their links.

I'm giving the performics "affiliate rep" a week and if no success, their competitor is going to get most of their sales. It would be easier on me to leave things as is, but for 3% more? No, I'll change it out.

Good Luck then! Hope it works out for you the way you want without having to do all the extra work of swapping out links.

It's just as bad from the merchant side. They, by Performics' contract agreement, cannot contact you directly either. One would think that a good merchant would at least want to be able to call an affiliate who sold $20K worth of their goods, if for no other reason than to say, "Thanks".

I've had personal contact from a few Performics merchants ... initiated by them. Were they being naughty to do that?

Cedric - try contacting the merchant's sales or marketing department/rep.

I have got to tell you, I am not a happy camper.

The more I have thought of my conversation with the "affiliate rep", the more disatisfied I have become. This will take some thought, I don't want to ditch a merchant that converts so well, but blast it all, I don't like being treated like an annoyance.

It is so tempting to cut off my nose in this situation.

Thanks, Haiko. As it stands, I traded out two links with their competitor (on items where there was an exact product match) -- why on earth should I wait? I'm already getting the higher percentage with the other merchant.

It was only two links, but those two have meant $5,000+ to the Performic's merchant.

    Not any more.

Cedric, I agree with you. Its like we don't even matter. I'm glad you tried a couple of the competitors links. Who knows, maybe it will pay off for you. If not you just add the other ones back.

I am surprised you got a hold of a real person at Performics. Like I sadi before I always thought the company was run by robots. I have never once been able to make contact. <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon36.gif> There has to be a way to reach the merchant somehow. I bet they would love to talk to you if your doing $20,000 in sales a month for them. JMO

Good show Ceddy. Keep the pressure on.

And shout about it from the highest yard arm too.

Point how how stupid this merchant was: Sacrificing $240,000 in annual sales for want of communicating with an affiliate.

If I were you Ceddy, I would write a snail mail letter to the company CEO and send it registered mail explaining exactly what happened to you.

That should get some results and if it dosen't well then - onward and upward.

Then you can tell us who they are so we can buy put options on their stock if they have them.

Ceddy and the Prof agreeing on something? I'm pretty darn sure there is something in the Book of Revelation about this.

    >>Like I sadi before I always thought the company was run by robots. <<

Well, I must confess that I may have started off on the wrong foot with the affiliate rep I spoke with... when she told me who she was, I said, "wow, a real-live human? I wasn't sure there were people on the other side of that Perfomics screen"... (please keep in mind, I had written three emails on one topic over a two-week time span with NO response from them -- after getting their less than satisfactory voicemail, I was a bit testy).

Anyway GB, I KNOW this other merchant converts because I've promoted their products on some newer pages... I just didn't want to go through the hassle of changing out links. There's ONE profitable line of products that the Performics' merchant has that I probably won't be able to replace, but other than that? While I'm not rushing to make the changes (I do have other things to do ), as I run across quick changes, I'm making them. The Performics Merchant is buh-bye.

I'm sure the LS merchant will be pleased.

Just me, but I would go to the ends of the Earth to contact the merchant - if for no other reason than to say goodbye and why.

I am very curious, what was the outcome - did anyone every get back with you for a final disposition?

Sorry to reactivate this old thread.

Have you ever recd. a newsletter from the Merchant? May be contact info there.

Agreed, you should test -all- your options. Caution though, a higher rev-share does not always equate to more money in your pocket. Lesser product selection, out-of-stock levels, inability to convert, customer service issues can often dull the allure of higher rev-share. Test Test Test. Yep, you guessed it. We don't offer the highest rev-share.

I've a particular interest in this subject as we run a program through Performics as well.

    Obstinatedon,

Merchants did have access once-upon-a-time, then we didn't, now recently after complaints we do have it again. I see it as the Merchant's responsibility to take the initiative to how involved they choose to be or if they want to outsource the full management of their program. There are obvious trade-offs.

Rick, thanks for the note. The thing is, this other merchant, with the higher share, absolutely does convert. And no, no newsletter.

And to testify to the LS' merchant's ability to convert, I pulled some select links for the Performics merchant and replaced them with the LS merchant. The Performics merchant dropped by about five grand in June and the LS merchant went up by about five grand.

Fred, I haven't heard squat back from Performics since the initial phone call. The Affiliate "Rep" should have, at the VERY least, sent an email that the merchant didn't go for a raise in percentage.

As it stands now, I'm just replacing the links as I get time. They have one line that I can't replace (no competitors that I have found), but beyond that, I can't see any reason to keep them.

Maybe when the merchant sees the drop in sales somebody will finally get off their duff any contact you. Seems like it is your only choice at this point.
