here's why conversion is low, or have tanked.

the first click of your visitor on a merchant (that uses session ID cookies) BYO link gives back a "session expired message".

i think the link is set to look for the current session cookie but since there is none on the first click, a session expired message comes up.

if you're a visitor, this can be a big reason to abort surfing, at least for that merchant, and at least for that link.

I am guessing you have a faulty connection or something. I have never suffered from lack of sales at performics, nor have they ever tanked...unless i am just lucky.

Performics threw me for a loop the other day, when I received a reply to an e mail about a question and a program.
Was so happy they replied, and was advised by that same person to contact them if I ever have a need

Answered a question about my multiple sites link question, so I was overjoyed to have heard back from them

I don't particularily enjoy some lack of links or how to build them with some merchants, but just the mere fact they answered went a long way to ensure I actually go in and use some of the programs there that fit what I need.

    Hi WW,

I know exactly what you mean when you said you were happy that they replied. I finally have a reliable contact at Performics also.

As far as conversions for October, it appears to be down for me also..

Do Performics merchants have the capability to randomly turn off tracking? Because sales have tanked for me over the last month, I have started checking to see why. I have found that certain of my merchants are not setting cookies when clicking their links. The ones, where sales have continued, are setting cookies every time when a link is clicked on. This makes me think that either there is a major problem with tracking or the merchants can selectively turn off tracking. I find this condition not just with one but several and I have not tested them all yet. Does anyone know?

here's a good answer (and i have this on another thread).

when merchants disable a link (and they often do), the links STILL GO TO THE INTENDED PAGES but they do not track anymore.

because of this, I have no more confidence/trust in performics. i have probably hundreds of links currently generating sales but are not tracked.

i am starting to remove the performics links from my site. i view them as "perfor-leaks"

The merchant's links that are not setting cookies show as active links in my account. I did find one that had been disabled but, it went to a cannot display page error. In retesting, I have four merchants not setting cookies no matter which of their links I click on. I have made new links and they still do not set cookies. Two of these merchants have performed well until rececently.

try making a B-Y-O link, wait till it becomes active and working, then delete it and check later if it is still working or not.

i did encounter the page-cannot-load disabled link before, but that was an exception and not the norm.

    good luck.

    Hi Gene,
Have you tried contacting someone at Performics? I know they don't respond well but maybe you should send them an email.

Well, I have heard from Performics just this morning. At least two of the four not setting cookies are leaving Performics on Nov. 17 and migrating to LS. Bummer! Apparently someone has gotten ahead of the cut off date and disabled the links.

what did i tell you? disabled links at performics still go to the merchant site BUT DO NOT TRACK anymore. and if their links are still listed as active even though they were already disabled, that's even worst.

even when merchants had already left performics, their former performics links still go to their site.

and for those merchants still in performics, i can just imagine them laughing at us, at how we are being fooled.

i suggest that performics take this issue seriously. a "loss of confidence" can be a business-ending event.

I never have , nor ever will, put up one Performics link regardless of the merchant's available there. I treat them as entirely ruled by Ad Agencies and the IAB/DMA membership as a front for the Adwhores. That decision was reinforced before there even was a ABW.

As I compare the ebates merchant list against the performics list, I am seeing huge blocks of merchants on both.

Hope I'm not one of them as I have Auto Approve.

That is not good that 1 you are still waiting that long and 2 that you cannot contact an AM.

If you look at my last post here on the 4th: http://abw.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x?a=tp...11&m=684105209

you might see simple explaination. Performics pre-screens applications and sites before the merchants sees you on a pending list. This is for first time affiliates going into performics.

I do not like this idea as I think the merchant should decide who gets in and not perfomics first, so if your sites are ok (no porn etc) and you contact each merchant, the merchant should let you know whether you were approved or not. Please try this and let us know. I have a feeling the merchants you are applying to, do not even know you are applying yet.

Send an email today to each merchant using this email convention as per performics.

    clientnameaffiliates@performics.com

    For example:

    shopt4techaffiliates@performics.com

At the same time send an email to affiliates@( merchant name ) .com as all merchants should have this direct email. I had to set this up for us recently as I found this same problem too and affiliates had no way to contact us unless they went through performics.

Also send an email to the AM in charge of all affiliates: Sheila Parker sparker@performics.com

    Let us know.

    Thanks, Jorge.

I have been in Performics for a while with just 2 merchants (and no sales yet) so they have screened my site. I will try the email convention you suggested.

    CheeseHead,

Good. If you have been there then it should be faster replies from merchants unless the merchants do NOT have auto approve.

Contact Sheila like I said she will help.

    ?? Not good

    Why, any reason given.

Were they by the merchant or by perfomics?

I have never seen a merchant at Perf. that auto-approves. Stinks, but they are picky, and it is more difficult when you first get started with them.

If you have patience, stick with them.

I checked with one merchant - they stated that they did not want any additional affiliates at this time. I believe all of the merchants I applied for are one in the same so I would imagine the same reason holds for the others. Here is the quote:

"Unfortunately, since this merchant is new, they have a limited number of affiliates they can partner with. This maximum has been reached and they are not accepting new applications at this time. We will review these affiliates next year and if Country Door decides to add new partners I will let you know."

Next year? At any rate, I don't have time for such nonsense!
