I just had an email report from Amazon saying they have trawled my site for broken links or non availabilty of books. As I am using the Amazon datafeed program (ae.pl) perhaps I should forward this to them so they can correct their own data? !!

ae.pl displays whatever amazon.com provides in their AWS XML datafeed. If amazon.com's spider finds broken product links or unavailable items, the problem is with amazon.com -- not with ae.pl. GIGO -- garbage in, garbage out. Just ignore it. If amazon.com's spider is using too much of your bandwidth, then write to amazon.com and ask them to not spider your website since it is an AWS-based website.

It is not a problem; I was just very amused that Amazon were telling me that their site / datafeed was out of date!

I've had this happen before as well. It is funny in a sick way to see how many broken/bad links they have in their feed!

I received the same report from them the other
day, with 43 broken links. I just received
another email from them today that they will
begin another review this week. They said in
this email that they use Alexa to spider our
sites and look for broken links. I wonder if
the problem is with Alexa and not with Amazon.
I checked out these links Alexa reported as
broken, and they all worked for me with no
    problems.

I only had a few, but the ones listed were correct. A couple were no longer in the Amazon database at all and came up to the generic page when I tried to open them.

A couple others were listed as being out of stock or low stock. These were still good links, but I liked knowing that I should keep an eye on these products as they were out of print and almost out of stock.

Of course, if I got 400 of them, I probably wouldn't have liked it as much.
