    David,

I am in the process of moving my sites to a new server and have noticed that ae.pl is performing strangely on the new server!

Results are occasionally starting at book number 21 instead of 1.

Selecting a subject area will occasionally take me straight to the Amazon site and not display the results on my template.

Sometimes the page just displays the xml data.

    Using asin.search fails.

The new server has the following environment Apache/1.3.27 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux) mod_jk/1.2.0 mod_perl/1.26 - is there anything in this set up that could cause these odd occurrences.

There is no set pattern, all seem to happen randomly.

Delete everything and re-install. What is the load on this new server? Shared or dedicated server?

If it still happens, then fill in the support form and let me know the URL so I can see it.

The results are numbered at AWS (not by AE). So if you see results starting at 21 (and there was no page parameter or first parameter as part of the request), then it sounds like a problem at AWS.

If selecting a subject area (a browse node?) on one server works but it doesn't work on the other server, then the problem is probably with either AWS or your server's internet connection to the AWS server.

XML data should not be shown (unless the data parameter is specified).

Search type asinsearch should work. If it is not working at all, then the problem is probably with either AWS or your server's internet connection to the AWS server.

    Thanks David,

    I will reinstall and recheck.

This is the only cgi running on the server at the moment as I want to test it thoroughly before moving the revenue earning sites. The server is a brand new Linux Ultra so has much more power than my old Raq 550 box.

I will contact you if the the problems persists.

    Kind regards

    Gary

Problem resolved. The server had a modperl option. I have now reconfigured without modperl and reloaded scripts, site is now performing well. Script speed is currently excellent!

Associate Engine was not designed to work with mod_perl
