    Hi there,

Can I get some help with the mod_rewrite instructions if I install the script as index.pl (i.e. its the index document)?

    Regards,
    Shri

Do not install Associate Engine as "index.pl".
See Virtual Directory > Home Page.

I want the stores template to appear as my home page.

I have uploaded the following .htaccess file to my root.

    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^$ /cgi-bin/ae.pl?template=stores[L

Yet when I now go to my domain name I get an Internal Server Error

    Any ideas why?

I assume you used the following as your RewriteRule (the one above has a typo):

    RewriteRule ^$ /cgi-bin/ae.pl?template=stores [L]

Try accessing ae.pl directly, such as www.YOURDOMAIN.com/cgi-bin/ae.pl

If accessing ae.pl directly also shows "500 Internal Server Error", then see solutions to "500 error"..

Sorry yes my post was a typo. I have done it as you suggested. No errors on ae.pl. See http://www.ukshopping.biz/cgi-bin/ae.pl

    Server is linux (SUSE)

Your /cgi-bin/ae.pl runs fine (as a side issue for optimizations, create a directory called /cgi-bin/ae-imgcache and set CHMOD 775).

When I access your home page / there is just your "coming soon" notice.

Edit your /.htaccess file as instructed at Virtual Directory > Home Page.

David the reason you are seeing the 'coming soon' is I have taken the .htaccess file out again. If I place it back in my httpdocs directory (where the home page would be) I then you get the 'Internal Server Error'

My directory structure at root is:

    anon_ftp
    bin
    cgi-bin
    conf
    error_docs
    httpdocs
    httpsdocs
    pd
    private
    statistics
    subdomains
    web_users

The .htaccess file looks like this:-
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^$ /cgi-bin/ae.pl?template=stores [L]

Another thing I have noticed is that when the .htaccess file is in there and you try and access ae.pl the store images (located at httpdocs/ae-img) dont show. If you try and access the images directly via the browser eg. http://www.ukshopping.biz/ae-img/off-none.gif you get the internal server error

It just does not like the .htaccess file in there. It is a Linux server (SUSE)

    Any other ideas?

Look in your server's error log file to see if there are additional details to the error. Otherwise, fill in the Support form so we can continue this by email.
