    i have a blog and want to use carp to insert topics on different pages on my website.

    the carp program only provides a php include and my site pages a parsed .shtml.

    Is their a way i can accomplish this with carp?

    this is the php code:
    <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>&lt;?php
    require_once '/public_html/carp_gpl/carp/carp.php';
    CarpCacheShow('http://www.geckotribe.com/press/rss/pr.rss');
    ?&gt; <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

    the rss url will be changed to my blog rss. i don't know exactly what to change for it to work in a .shtml page, i did try a dozen or so variations

    Have you tried putting that php code in a php file and then calling it using SSI?

    ie calling it carp.php and then use

    &lt;!--#include virtual="/carp.php" --&gt;

    Great minds think alike the only difference is that you got yours to work and I couldn't.. When I tried to do that I just kept getting an "[an error occurred while processing this directive]"

    Any ideas??

    Hotspice,

    Are you putting the file in the same folder? Is your page in shtml? Is your htaccess file configured to parse the files as html?

    Just a few thoughts.

    Oscar,

    both files are in the same folder but my page is just html. I did add html as a server-parsed handler though. It's including other html files fine.

    My php file is doing a "&lt;?php include 'http://www.bigbold.com/digest/...." which, when included into other php files works fine..

    The really odd thing is that if I create the whole page in .php and then include it in a html file " &lt;!--#include file="mynewsite/index.php" --&gt; " it works fine.. Why it would include one and not another is what's really got me stumped..

    I'm not sure you can parse both txt AND php files in the same html file. I could be wrong. Have you added this to your htaccess file?

    AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

    I think I'm going to chalk this up to one of those mystery errors..

    I saved the same file under a different name and the include worked fine.. Just for curiousity sake I deleted the existing file and then re-saved it using the same name of the deleted file (same case and everythign) and it worked just fine..

    That was a fun way to kill a lot of time and hurt way too many brain cells trying to figure out what I had done wrong..

    Thanks for tryin to help Oscar

    Yeah - must be one of those quirks in the cyberworld - twilight zone stuff...

    Glad it worked out in the end.
