With the conversion rates this baby products merchant show on my traffic to them they definitely need to shove their offerings under a whole lot of noses. 974 clicks with no sales over 7 months. Maybe they and the scumlords deserve each other.

I really don't care about babystyle's conversion rates.

I thought the NEW LS TOS prevented merchants from affiliation with parasiteware.

Did I think wrong or is LS going to do something about this?

I'm betting LS will do nothing. Gosh, everyone's right -- they're sounding more and more like CJ everyday.

    Hello everyone,
I manage babystyle's affiliate program. I'm sorry that everyone is upset by seeing that WhenU is in our program. I wasn't aware of the negative attitude toward this company. A little history on how they joined our program. About a year ago Linkshare suggested that we partner with them saying that they had some sort of tool to alert customers to deals. Since Linkshare had recommended them we accepted them into the program (I only get about one recommendation a month and they usually work out well). In all honesty, this was the first month they really had many sales with us. After receiving several emails this morning I looked into WhenU and their practices. I must say I'm sorry. It was not our intention to hurt/upset our hardworking longtime affiliates.
I do still have one question, I saw that you branded Looksmart as parasite ware also. To my knowledge Looksmart is only listing us in their search results under a selection of keywords that babystyle chose. The reason for their success has to do with their partnership with MSN.
Please don't hesitate to email with any further concerns you may have. I want this program to be the best it can be. Thanks again for being part of the babystyle affiliate program.

    -Jeff

    Jeff,

    Hi and Welcome to ABestweb!

Did you drop them? If so WTG!

Well looksmart end users are fed by Ezula and they also place the 'double dipped' merchants above all affiliate links. The double dipping means that they charge merchants for a static link yet they join your program and change the static link to their affiliate link. Many merchants don't care about the double dipping fees nor 'where' the traffic comes from, but many, many many affiliates are loosing serious money because of the link hijacking.

For more information on ParasiteWare™, may I suggest that you peruse the threads here .

Jeff, thanks for taking the time to come here and let us know -- are you dropping whenu? If so, I'll put back all your links that I pulled this morning.

The LookSmart issue is tougher. They partner with Ezula. That said, I won't give LookSmart one penny of *mine*. However, I'm NOT going to blackball a merchant who partners with a merchant who partners with scumware. If I were going to do that, I'd have to drop, well, everyone.
quote:
Steve Messer has some explaining to do, methinks

Methinks so, too.

    Hello all,
WhenU.com has been removed from our program. While they were one of our top affiliates, they acheived their success through methods that I can not condone or support. In my free time I set up an affiliate site myself and wouldn't want WhenU.com stealing any of my sales. I completely understand why everyone was upset. If anyone still has concerns, please feel free to email me at affiliateprogram@estyle.com or call me at 213.228.6800.

WTG! I'm not in the Babystyle program but I still would like to thank you for being a stand-up merchant.

That's it. I was just about to start promoting some Linkshare merchants on my sites. I've seen and heard enough about Linkshare - here and other places - to realize they are not worthwhile doing business with. If this is what Linkshare is doing behind affiliates' backs while pretending to take the moral high ground on Parasiteware, I don't want to be bothered with them. I too will add more links to eStyle and babystyle to my Malls. Those sections need a re-write anyhow. Steve needs to understand that these parasites LIVE OFF OF automatic feeds from the networks. They do not have static pages or traffic to their own sites and run their pop-ups etc etc...as intercepts of our traffic. They play the hijacker game with a vengence all the time feeding the spammers in the background.

Cut out the automation tools and you'll cut the throats on these thieves.

You didn't really lose one of your top affiliates.

The referrals from WhenU were actually referrals from other affiliates who are still here.
