This guy tried to apply for some affiliate programs using my stolen site. I was contacted by befree.

    I own http://www.free-webmaster-tools.com

Someone has stolen the complete site listed here: http://rdswg.3322.net

He even added some of his own advertising info.

He is based in China. I will do what I can to get him shut down. Any suggestions?

Why am I VERY mad at Linkshare? Befree was nice enough to deny this affiliate for obvious misrepresentation of my site.

I contacted Linkshare and they said they could do NOTHING about it! I guess it is anything for a buck huh!? Even when it is obvious proof that the site has been stolen you will continue to allow this person to continue placing Linkshare banners on my site.

I will never use Linkshare again and Will be spreading the word as long as you allowed this to happen.

Please respond as I find this highly unethical!!

FYI, the same publisher had two accounts at CJ, I checked and one was deleted on 5/3/02 and the other was deleted on 2/15/02.

The thief is using a free home page at 3322.net, a Chinese Tripod if you will. So I suggest you contact the host at homepage@3322.net to get user rdswg removed.

You might also try contacting the host at their parent website - cn99.com, a Chinese portal. http://www.cn99.com/bentium/contact.html

    Good luck.

    Cheers,
    TianTian

    Hopefully he will reply.

I called and talked to one woman who seemed off in space and I could not even explain to her what had happened (tried several times).

I then was starting to get mad and asked to talk to someone else so I didnt say something very rude. She was no help either. Both seemed pretty clueless to be honest and didnt even want to help or understand. All I kept hereing is that the "thief" is not doing anything against Linkshare terms and how do they know I didnt steal the site. I told them I have proof, but what do they care!

I guess they don't care if a site is stolen if it makes them some money.

My biggest concern is that this guy (the thief) can get me into trouble with the search engines.

FWT, I've dealt with their online support several times and only one time did they help me. All they kept typing is thank you is there anything else I can help you with before I was done trying to help with the original problem. I know how you feel! <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon36.gif>

    Hi everyone,

Sorry I have not been around for a while but I was finalizing a formal position to work with this board. As you can imagine things are pretty busy for me so I hope to have this done soon. This new person will have more time to monitor this list and respond to your needs.

    Best regards,
    Stephen

    AffJus,

That's not fair! Stephen will assign someone so that concerns could be answered quicker, what is wrong with that?

Super service Linkshare could do for us to force merchants into working on sales conversion ratios is a "clicks per sale" stat next to each merchant for the prior month. Place this in a field in the sales and activity report and merchant profile. About a 1 hour ASP script write

    APRIL:
    Overstock CPS=212
    Walmart CPS=1724
    Landsend CPS=540
    Dell CPS=2235
.......ect that way they will have a recruiting incentive to lower that figure and report more sales on their batch reports. If a merchant found they didn't have to a thing but place 30 return day cookie to halve their CPS figure ..they'd do it.

    Hi -

My name is Sarah, and I will be monitoring this board on behalf of LinkShare. We welcome any feedback or suggestions that you may have for LinkShare. I will try to answer any of your questions and/or concerns, and inform the appropriate departments as necessary. I am happy to be here, and am looking forward to engaging discussions and working with all of you to ensure that LinkShare is staying on top of the needs of the affiliate community. Don't worry - I'll make sure that Steve is fully aware of everything that is discussed on this board, and that's not to say that he still won't pop in every now and then!

That being said, let me first address FWT's post. LinkShare respects the intellectual property rights of others. We have in the past disabled or denied access to sites that were shown to be in violation of copyright or similar laws. We have contacted the writer and will take appropriate action once we learn more.

Finally, Mike, thanks for the great suggestion – I will pass along your idea to our Product Development team.

Thanks, and I welcome further feedback on ways LinkShare can improve your affiliate experience within our network.
    Sarah

Welcome Sarah and I'm glad Steve thought enough of you to place you on the frontline. Let it be known that ABW is a forum that addresses the issues that effect normal websites owner's ability to earn commissions from your merchants. We work for FREE on their behalf on the promise that promoting their product/service will create a revenue stream for our efforts. We trust the network to enforce payments due and record all sales activity.

We do get very upset over being duped by so called affiliate enabled merchants who are just fronts for spamming -privacy violations- e-mail address harvesting and "incent type" link Hijackers. Educate yourself to the flack you get from any LS merchant who's ebiz plan promotes FREEBEEs -coupons etc. because their real program is not to embrace affiliates ..only use/abuse them.

Fact: Any LS merchant who gets showcased at F**kedcomany.comand their are over 120 of them there who all screwed affiliates out of commissions. Like type programs are also suspect. We lobbied Steve for better reporting -monthly payouts -lowering minimums -cookie day disclosure and a strong stand on parasite/scumware scammers. Please remember merchants have 100% control of our pocketbooks and the ultimate success of our monitizing traffic ventures. If we do not show sales from years of effort to send traffic to them ..the logic becomes they are not reporting sales. Only you get to look at the total LS merchant performance reports. If a merchant only has 5-10 affiliates daily making money and shows 30,000 affiliates in their group they are abusing your network and ABW members.

How long does it take for Snare to get a clue? You get this question right you win the $1 million on How To Be A Millionaire.

My problems with Snare is simple:

Where's our money from merchants who simply did not pay us?

Complete and utter indifference to affiliates and lack of auditing of merchant sales.

Welcome, Sarah. And be prepared for a ration of you know what...it's not personal.

Snare is on a zillion people's you know what list for past happenings and failure to address important issues.

Okay, while I understand the concern and frustration about merchants that don't pay, can anyone tell me ANY network that pays when they don't get paid?

I know CJ doesn't and I know Performics doesn't... is there one I'm missing?

Thank you all for your welcoming comments. Again, part of my role here is to help take the feedback, suggestions, and concerns you express in this forum, and to relay it to the appropriate parties at LinkShare so that we as a company can help better serve your needs. I think that within the past year especially, we have taken into consideration the issues you have raised, and taken great strides in addressing them. We have launched several features to better help you receive timely commission payments, as well as to decide with which program you wish to partner, such as the Premium Partner Program, the Merchant Payment History and Payment Reports, and the Transaction Inquiry System. We have more work ahead of us as we continue to focus on your payment concerns, but I hope that we will help change your perception of LinkShare over time.

    Best,
    Sarah
