Anyone getting sales with Simply Dresses at LinkShare?
Looks to me like their tracking has been *off* for 2-3 months

Has anyone gone through the purchase process with them (up to the CC info anyway) to see if you could spot a problem. I know I didn't bother, but it is a thought...

2 Years of clicks in my clothing and Bridal shops for Simply Dresses. Not one sale so they must make them only for cross dressers ( not my target group) or they don't track any of the sales except the ugly torn ones.

I used to get a few sales, although the epc was terrible, then nothing.. over 50,000 clicks with zero sales, their tracking must be dead

Okay, they do NOT have a user-friendly system for buying.

First, you MUST register before you can make a purchase. No option to skip registration.

Second, once you've registered, there are ridiculous fields such as "Credit Card Label" where you are instructed "Use a descriptive name for this credit card, e.g. AMEX, My Visa, etc." (note, there is a separate field for the type of card).

Also there is a "Label" field for the shipping address "Use a descriptive name for this address, e.g. home, office, etc". City and state are pre-filled with New York information.

Then, when I fill the CC info in with bogus-obviously-test info and hit submit, it goes back to the view shopping cart screen. No error message, no confirmation of purchase, nothing. Just back to the start of the process with the dress still in the cart. I have no earthly clue if it registered as a purchase or not.

I'm beginning to wonder how the one sale I had made it through.

Hi All,

Thank you for alerting me to this merchant. Your feedback has concerned me, and I've asked my team to investigate and ensure that this merchant is tracking and reporting appropriately. At this time, we are placing the program on hold, and will notify participants in the merchant's program to remove Simply Dresses links until further notice.

Thanks
Sarah

I guess I found this thread a little late. Last year I tried emailing Linkshare and Simply Dresses seperately about this issue. Nobody ever emailed me back. My stats with Simply Dresses over the last 2 years are 10,342 clicks and zero sales. I know I know I know... I should have pulled the plug on them a long time ago but it slipped my mind as I went on to bigger and better projects. I'm happy to see that LS is finally doing something about this merchant.

WTG Linkshare as this one obviously slipped passed your all knowing merchant tracking verification screen for 2 years. This is worth a laugh at your fool proof sales monitoring system!

I don't think there's a problem with tracking for Simply Dresses, I think the culprit is their ghastly usability issues. I had them on one page for part of the prom shopping season last spring; here's the stats.

Impressions 90,229
Click-Throughs 15,244
# of Orders 3
# of Items 3
Sales($) $421.99
Commissions($) $29.54

As a comparison, on the same page I promoted Loralie.com:

Commissions $589.70
Sales ¬*30
Clickthroughs ¬*29,176
Impressions 204,664
EPM ¬*$2.88
CR 0.001
EPC¬*$2.02

I cut Simply Dresses some slack because prom dresses attract teen traffic, which (in my experience) seldom converts well. I track this page separately in my CJ stats. EPC is usually a fraction of what it is for the rest of my main site.

I'd have issues with either of these two darn merchants. The best one took advantage of you by your providing them the ability to suck followup information from 29,176 of your hard earned visitors. Their conversion stat equates to 973 clicks to produce one sale. Simply Dresses is way off the honest meter with a conversion ratio of 5081 targeted shoppers to produce one sale. Pathetic to waste this amount of traffic without charging them a slotting fee.

In one day this month Overstock reported they averaged one sale per 55 clicks. That was on 28,000 total clicks from all affiliates and 550 sales. Average ticket price per sale was 116.00 making total sales of approx. 64,000.00 earning their affiliates at 5% ...$3200.00 per day!! They are working on improving their program for better conversion results..What about these other 2? The paid out an average of 11.4 cents per click...

Your 44420 clicks to Overstock instead of these dress wanks would have made you $5063.88. Same effort just 10 times the money. That is why we have to pressure these merchants to devulge their conversion ratios so we doon't spin our wheels on loosers.

lol! Mike, teenagers looking for prom dresses are not going to buy anything from Overstock.

Elisabeth, I have to agree about the "teenagers issue"... anything that attracts a lot of teens has a much lower conversion rate on my site.

I assumed that Sarah had access to info we don't have -- as to why they were shut-off -- but I could be wrong.

Cedric - You'd be surprised how mush we sell in Fashion & Accessories. We have $2,000 - $3,000 gowns going for $200 - $300. There are also several nice names like Kenneth Cole, Vera Wang, etc.

Might be worth at least giving it a shot to see what the results are...

Thanks,

Shawn, absolutely no offense intended, but unless I'm looking in the wrong place, you have a total of two (four if you stretch it) outfits that qualify as promwear...

That's a pretty tough sell. For someone who focuses on promwear and has a loyal following, it might be an option. But for someone who just happens to turn up in the search engines (less targeted, no loyality), I'd have a tough time justifying sending the clicks there.

I'll send you other clicks, though.

Not on prom gowns!
Overstock have some great deals but only one or two gowns available.. that just doesn't compare to a site like Loralie. Right now the Overstock site has *1* gown in stock.

My point on this subject was not to push Overstock for niche' fashions, unless you showcase things Nordic fashions or something they have in their Worldstock area. My point was for ABWers to see they will never make a dime on these 2 fashion merchants if they generate less than 100 clicks a day to those sites. Most never can generate that amount for any mercchant and therefore need to push and choose merchants like Overstock who convert better than 1 sale per 100 clicks.
