    Hello...

I'm wondering about content links. Do you use them? Do you like them? Do you find them helpful? Are they a waste of time?

    Comments welcome. Thanks!

Don't know for sure if they work well on their own, but they sometimes fit well in combination with other links that are effective.

Depends on the type of content link you are talking about. The possibilities are almost endless. Search boxes, dropdowns, full page creatives, partial page creatives.... see what I mean Depending on what you provide will depend on how much it's worth

One example of a content link:
    https://members.cj.com/member/offers..._adid=10281488

    It all depends...

No matter what kind of links the parasites take away commission from.

When the merchant actually writes good text, AND it fits with the writing style of my site, I'll use their content links.

Unfortunately, it's only rarely that I find this combination. Usually they're either lame, or they're just written in too low-key of a style to be good as "ghost writing" on my sites.

One irritant is that a lot of them are written from the perspective of the merchant. They use "we" instead of "they" to describe their offering and/or company. That doesn't fit the reality, so I have to change it to reflect the actual relationship and make it clear who's responsible for what. "THEY" (the merchants) do the stocking, order fulfillment, guarantees, etc. "WE" (my sites) only offer links and pitches!

That said, if I come upon a content link that's actually well-written, and written in a close enough style to my own that it won't bang out as "someone else's writing"--I just change all the "we's" (if present) to "theys" and put it up. I just wish there were more that fit the criteria...

I would love to use those lovely howto articles on my site (with the appropriate product links, of course)... Too bad they've all got broken images...

FFoc, we're updating all of the tech articles, how to's, and FAQs. Can you email me the ones you're specifically talking about? We'll fix those first. patrice@eastwoodco.com

    Thanks...

Patrice: You have ARTICLES on your site? I can't seem to locate them. I would love, LOVE, to put them in our Classic Cars channel with heavy-duty links!
    WINNER!!!!!

Karl, you mean you haven't scrolled all the way to the bottom of our home page and found the little link called "services" and intuitively known it was where our articles are and clicked on them and found them??

We are working on making them more visible. We are also tweaking each one to make sure all product links are correct, and we're trying to add pictures as well.

You can email me and I can try to set you up with the articles we've improved, if you would like them sooner. patrice@eastwoodco.com

    Thanks!!

Also, we've made a little graphic that is on the right side of our homepage called Eastwood Learning Center that links directly to our articles/FAQ/tech help page. Baby steps.

Search boxes and dropdowns are sweet! Insta-EZ-Nav that happens to go straight to the merchant site!

(Although I wouldn't call those "content" links since the viewer only gets to the content [in this case, "content" would = the info on the merchant site] *after* they've used the search box or dropdown!)

Got your email, Karl, and while I'd love to help you, we don't have *that* kind of service - wait, you said WINCH. Okay. Whew.

We do have a search banner (it is not quite as pretty as our other banners, but it does the job) if you'd like to use it. But I agree with Leader, it doesn't give you any real "content" like some other content links do.

Akiva, your content link example didn't work for me, can you send it to me in email or post it again?

    Thanks!

Of course not, Karl...nothing is ever completely out of the question. Almost nothing. Most things. Lots of things. Let's leave it at that.

    Patrice:

Once you click the link CJ will prompt you for a login to your publisher account... you have one don't you... if you don't get one ASAP. One you login, CJ will forward you automatically to the link I posted above. Also, here some more examples:

    Dropdown navigation:
    https://members.cj.com/member/offers..._adid=10288432

    Vertical navigation bar:
    https://members.cj.com/member/offers..._adid=10281121

And like Leader said. Affiliates LOVE navigation creatives that will land the user directly on the merchant's targetted landing page.
