Hi all. Hopefully there is a LS expert here that can help me. I would like to find a way to automate the linking process. Suppose I visit a merchant site that allows IPL. I collect 50 or so pages that I would like to link to. Is there any easy way (i.e. search and replace) for converting these web pages into affiliate links without the LS code generator? Do merchant links all follow a pattern for each individual merchant?

Any help appreciated here as IPL is soooooo slowwwwww when you have lots of links.

    Hi perfectG,

You might want to contact the merchant's AM to coordinate product selections with them. In some cases they might be happy to help you with setting up individual links.

I definitely recommend coordinating with the merchant you are interested in. Often, inventories can be limited so merchants like to be careful about how an individual product is promoted. From an AM's perspective, the concern would be that a product is no longer available, yet is advertised on a web site. The next thing you know customer service is getting calls from folks who swear they saw the item on the web...

Without making this any longer - talk to the AM's. A reasonable one will be happy to work with you.

    Best,

    David

There is an advanced link generator which can read URLs from a text file. Look for the advance link in IPL page. The link looks like the following:

"Advanced Users Only: Click here to generate code for multiple products at one time"

Thanks, I am in contact with the AM, but they are not really too clued up on datafeeds.

    KC Edit
This merchant is not part of the merchandiser program and therefore does not have that option.

Is there a way to do this without the merchant paying for the merchandiser program?

Are LS links not easily convertable to affiliate links somehow?

    Andy,

I do not think the merchant needs merchandiser program to allow advanced linking. I used it for a couple of my merchants who do not provide merchaniser feeds.

Go to Individual Products page, then click on the link "Click here if you are an advanced user and wish to browse the following merchant's website for a particular product..."

In the next page, at the left frame, it should something like the follwing:

    "Individual Product Linking

    Back

If this is your first time using this function, we recommend reading these instructions first. Click Here

Advanced Users Only: Click here to generate code for multiple products at one time "

Click on that last line. There you can upload your file with the URLs and generate LS URLs.

Thanks for the info, but this merchant does not have the option of:

"Advanced Users Only: Click here to generate code for multiple products at one time ", though it does allow IPL.

They do allow IPL, but not the extra multiple URL bit.

I asked the merchant and he said they needed to be part of the merchandiser program to have this extra ability. Perhaps he is wrong. Anyone at LS answer this?

    Hi Andy

Yes I think there is a way to create custom links but what I'm showing below is created for another Merchant and you'll need to replace bits and pieces with the other Merchants code. The MERCHANTOID bit I believe as well as the YOURAFFCODE. Plus the URL you attach at the end under PARM 1 must use ASCII version of the URL.

    The below is the base

    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...BASEURL.com%2F

That I created on Szul and then converted to Mondera to get

    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...mondera.com%2F

This worked 100% and tracked okay.

Now whether this will work on some one who has not activated deep linking I have no idea... both Szul and Mondera have IPL.

    Lets try.... back in sec

    Cheers

Nope, I tried it with Ewatchfactory who have no IPL and it redirects to the home page

    Link is here

    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...racinglady1_en

I did another test on Szul going to a deep link and that worked

Chris, thanks for the time on this. I was wondering whether this sort of link "template" would work. The merchant I am considering has got IPL - just not the abaility to add multiple links in one go like e.g. Babystyle has.

I will give it a go and get the merchant to see whether it tracks or not (if he is prepared to do a test purchase).

    Hi Andy

If he has IPL then in theory there should be no problems

Also the fast way to creare the links, and I think this will work okay is to bang them through any merchants mass link creation tool (the text file upload) and then change the OfferID to the merchant.... I'd run a test order through that before getting carried away. Mondera has the text file upload and convery tool so feel free to use it

    Cheers

    Hi perfectG,

We do not recommend manually creating your own links nor can we provide a template for building custom product links. LinkShare cannot guarantee that that a link will direct and track appropriately if you create links manually or alter linking code provided to you in your affiliate account.

The Merchandiser program enables you to receive a data feed of a merchant's individual product links so that you can integrate these links without having to manually create links to each product. To learn more about the LinkShare Merchandiser(TM) Program, please see the Affiliate Resource Center area of your account:
