    Hi All

As some of you may have seen and others maybe not over 20 LinkShare Affiliates were terminated today due to their involvement in using COC violating software to track/produce/Steal sales

    Great news for everyone.

    Cheers

    Chris

Correction - Linkshare is not part of the COC so any booting of merchants they did is part of their addendum and should not be worded as "COC violators being culled".

I say this specifically because after repeated reporting of COC violations and "apparently nothing being done (they're still poping up on my site)" I sure would hate for any source to say the COC is being enforced - BECAUSE IT ISN'T.

Thanks Steven and Linkshare for another bold move! Now can you waive the fee for datafeeds if certain sales crteria are met?

Thanks for passing that on Chris.

20 is better than none and definitely better than sugarcoating compliance complaints.

I think legal junk keeps LS from being able to say who they boot.

Guess it will be up to me to check out many of the known ones and wait and see if Linkshare merchants disappear from their sites.

It is nice to at least see some positive action being taken instead of the usual "we will look into it" etc.

From what I understand it was 20 sites that use as part of their selling system the IPInsite software. So while related to IPInsight they were ineffect all independant affiliate sites who all failed to react/respond to LinkShares request 30 days ago that they drop this relationship and IPInsight's decision not to change how their software works.

feel free to add facts where missing please

    Cheers

    Wayne,

IPInsight which was run by Dan Kaufman (ex Dash guy) was co bundled with a few of the parasites under the guise of doing geotarketing but never did anything except intercept the commissions of regular affiliates and parasites by doing an off screen pop up of the underlying merchant site. To cover their tracks they spread the commissions across a network of 21 (what looked liked) independent affiliate sites so that they wouldn't show up on any merchant's radar. Their actions were quite underhanded and stealthy, to say the least.

I'm glad this was caught by LinkShare. Hopefully the other networks will do a scan to see if any of these 20 sites are signed up, and do the same thing.

Cr@p like this gives affiliate marketing a bad name, and should not be tolerated by any of the networks!

Of course, hoping for CJ to get rid of a parasite is like waiting for $100 bills to rain down from the Heavens.

Everyone should be applauding this move. There is a lot of griping about parasites/scumware, et al, much of it justified. Here is a network taking a decisive step in the right direction. Does it solve all Linkshare's problems? No. But everyone at ABW should give a hearty thumbs up to Linkshare. The longest journey begins with one step.

BeFree had already tossed these people out. Actually I think CJ gave them the boot too, not sure about that.

What's the deal with those ex-Dash guys? Seems they like to work with the parasites!

    Thanks for the list!

I did not check any others, but Cool Shopping Links is still very much alive with Linkshare. The site also carries Allposters which is supposed to be parasite free.

Most of the links on Cool Shopping Links are from LS.

Also, just checked AmazingMerchants.com and edigitalshopping.com, they are still very much alive with LS.
