Because of this thread http://abw.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&...9&m=9606047233 I contacted LS with some questions regarding the afscr=1 code use. Particularly since LS was not a participant of the COC, does adding this parameter protect LS links and secondly for the same reason, could there be possible tracking issues by using it. This is the response I just received from LS:

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> LinkShare Corporation released an affiliate agreement addendum which supplements the LinkShare Affiliate Agreement that commits affiliates to comply with terms that prohibit the company from blocking, altering, substituting, redirecting, etc. any click-throughs that originate from a LinkShare NetworkTM affiliate site. http://www.linkshare.com/rc/news-addendum.shtml

We do not suggest altering the LinkShare code, if altered there is no guarantee that it will perform properly. As stated in the LinkShare affiliate agreement, Section 9.
    <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I would also like to thank LS for taking the time to investigate this issue for me and responding in a timely fashion.

    BLFH,

Thanks for taking the time to follow up on this. I'd be interested to know what CJ, and performics say to do when they get back to you. I currently have the afsrc=1 tag on both CJ's and Performics links.

    BLFH,

I'm a little confused with this.

As far as I know, we add the afscr=1 code to the end of server side redirection URL:

    http://www.somesite.com/redirect.asp?d=123&afscr=1

    NOT:
    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id-Py*vuMdrQS&offerid=000000&type=0&subid=0&afscr=1

So there is no direct relation between the afscr=1 and the LS merchant tracking URL. It's only to send a message parasitic software that they should not interfere with this visit.

    Isn't that so?

That was my understanding also sambay. I just copied and pasted LS response to the inquiry. Seems to be soem confusion even among the networks. But in fairness to LS, they didn't have anything to do with the afsrc=1 coding.
