If you don't have it, do sales not get tracked to you? I just find it stuffs up my pages or doesn't work with my link format. When the page is loading it tends to stretch out the pages in a weird way so I lose it most of the time. (could this explain my lackluster performance with LS)?

That's a good question, as I'm of the same thinking, and have been wondering the same thing. It adds too much weight to the code for something that's really worthless in most cases, except for maybe an advertising landing page.

I think Linkshare is cool about it, where as CJ probably uses it as an excuse to steal the commission.

It has (on Linkshare) no impact on sales at all, it tracks impressions only.

What I tend to suggest is, if you have more than one link on a page then put only one, else you end up generating 10-15 impressions on a page which will mess with 'overall' your click through data.

Of course that means deciding which one to keep and remembering that it means all individual banner click through data is worthless.

    Cheers

    Chris

Sales will get tracked to you without using the pixel image.

However, as Chris mentioned, it does track impressions...

Without the impression tracking, however, there's no way that a merchant can get information to you on what the best converting banners are.

If you have width and height both specified as 1 in the img tag, there should be no page draw proglems.
