I'm working with a small, niche consumer products company selling direct on the web. We're looking into joining an affiliate marketing program such as LinkShare.

Is there a way to gauge potential affiliates' interest in our product & offering prior to joining LinkShare? No sense in joining the program if nobody is interested. Also, what data is available to estimate the amount of traffic an affiliate can bring to our site?

    Thanks,
    Scoobeedoo

    Why Linkshare?

Can you please explain why you are considering Linkshare and not the other programs?

Have you also contacted other members on this board that manage programs?

I must admit Linkshare is not my favorite program.

    SandraR,

I have not yet contacted other board members who manage programs.

We've just started to investigate Affiliate Marketing. LinkShare appeared to be the largest - it was the name that popped up most often in my research. Other than that, I have no preferences whatsoever for any of the affiliate networks.

Any in particular that you can recommend?

    Thanks,
    Scoobeedoo

I would prefer CJ. Or a program run by Linda Buquet (Catalyst). There are others on this board also running programs, Andy and many others... I selected Linda because she is by far the most vocal, and I won a prize from one of the companies she runs... THANKS AGIAN Executive Essentials!

You may want to start a poll and see what the majority vote would be. Within that poll you might also request WHY an affiliate would prefer thier chosen programs.

I have better luck with Linkshare programs myself and think they may have fewer 'infected' merchants. Whichever you choose, having a forum here is a good start. Anymore, I check here first before running someone's ads to help weed out the crooks.

    Hi scoobeedoo,

I prefer linkshare and performics. I like the deeplinking available at both of them. About 95% of my email questions have been answered the same day (although that does not seem to be a common experience here.) I like LS better because it is possible to contact the affiliate manager directly. I don't use CJ at all because the deeplinking features of most CJ companies drive me crazy, and I only feature individual products on my sites. I don't use banners at all.

I give Linkshare my vote too. Why don't you tell us what your products are?
