Does anyone know how to create Drugstore.com links on the fly (type=2 links)? I'm not wanting to use the Link Generator (type=10 links) because of the delay before it starts working and the amount of time it takes to build each one.

I've asked the Drugstore.com Affiliate Manager and Linkshare Support. Drugstore.com refers me to Linkshare Support. Linkshare Support refers me back to Drugstore.com.

    Hi Michael,

drugstore.com offers a selection of individual product links, as well as the option to create your own product links by browsing the website. Both options should be available in the drugstore.com create links, under Individual Product links.

Thanks, and please feel free to contact me at abw@linkshare.com with questions.

I'm wanting to know how to build "type=2" links for Drugstore.com, not product links or the "create your own" links.

The "create your own" links on Linkshare are a real pain.

    1) They're time-consuming to build. You have to log into Linkshare, navigate to the right place and enter the HTML to get the link.
    2) They don't work for up to two hours. When I build a link, I'm ready to post it on my site. My choices are to either post it immediately (and have it not work right) for a couple hours, or set it aside for a couple hours, test it again, and post it later.

For merchants where I have to go through that much trouble to post a link, the links just aren't going to get posted.

I'm able to build "type=2" links for most of my Linkshare merchants, but the format always varies a little from merchant to merchant. I'm just looking for the format of the type=2 links for Drugstore.com.

    They look like this:

    h t t p : / / click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id={linkshareid}&offerid={offerid}&type=2&subid=0&url={url_to_link_to}
(extra spaces added to keep Infopop from turning it into a link)

Each merchant varies just a little. Some use other things other than "url=". Some require linking through a special landing page in order to track properly.

The nice thing about "type=2" links is that you don't have to go into the Linkshare interface and they work immediately.

Could someone tell me what the equivalent to creating the type 2 links that Michael is talking about for Performics merchants if there is such a feature that exists?

Thanks in advance to anyone who posts!

I'm not sure that there is an equivalent at Performics.

At CJ, it would be adding "&URL={url}" to the link.

At BeFree, it would vary depending on the merchant but would usually be something similar to "&bfpage=bfrd&bfurl={url}".

    Thanks Michael!

I figured as much.. Too bad they don't they're custom link creator is just about as fun as LinkShare's. You'd think by know there merchants and the affiliate networks would have come up with a better way to link to custom pages inside their sites. It's to much of a pain in the but to go and create a stupid link for a sale that is only on for 2 days. Yet at the same time I know my visitors would like it. Just tooooooo time consuming!

Michael, here are a couple of examples of links that have tracked for DS, you might want to test but I know quite a few people using this format:

    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...?code=22F0D700

    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...?promoid=28364

I am not sure who figured this out but I have been doing mine this way and they have tracked for me. This has been passed around since they were first at ls

note, the above will not work from here as the affiliate id is NOT In there. The first offer is for new customers only, so will only show up for new customers. The second offer may expire today. You can check them from my site if you want to see how they go through.

    Two problems with that link:

    1) You need to remove the ".209093069" part.
    2) You need to encode the url= part.

Here's a working link with those two changes:
