    Odd addition!

Received your “You Have Been Dropped” email yesterday with some comment to join again and get a fresh start. I placed it in the trash and moved on.

At LinkShare's Marketing Summit in January 2004 there was a high interest in ZIRH, but many affiliates inquired why ZIRH did not provide marketing tips. The irony is that in the past 4 months with ZIRH I have sent on-going marketing emails and contacted many affiliates directly on strategies to optimize conversions.

Affiliate marketing is a two-way relationship. ZIRH works diligently to provide personalized service so that both parties may benefit. Affiliates that become inactive for long periods of time lead us to believe they are not interested or no longer in business.
We temporarily removed affiliates that were inactive over 3 months for corporate accounting/statistical purposes. This made many aware of the 3 months of weekly marketing emails they have received from ZIRH.

I apologize to any of you who feel you were wrongfully removed. Email me and I will be happy to add you and work with you on placement to make the most out of our program. Now that we have bettered our program we can work on an attentive, fresh new start with our more affiliate friendly program.

Tom, thanks for informing me about AbestWeb!

    Wish you all continued success,

    Chris

Do you even understand that email is possibly the worst form of communication today unless it is specifically requested?

I watch read and listen on ABW and a few other boards, if a merchant wishes to chat me up, they contact me utilizing the PM option, IM and if invited I give them access to an email address.

It may be time to find a new way to communicate with your affiliates, other than through email only. Arriving at ABW is a start; your course New York style is a tad standoffish, there are plenty of you NY people here but I can read the region in your writing.

    Are you with any parasites?

Not always Sandra. I live in a different timezone so phone calls are not only expensive but also rather impratical. Email is by far the best option for me and perhaps many others.

While working with affiliates personally, the phone has always been my choice of contact. Now that I am aware of abestweb it's going to be new means of communication for us. However, in general I'm working with 14,000 affiliates, email is the only feasible means of communication. If you have any other suggestions I am open to hear them. That is why I joined abestweb, to get additional affiliate feedback. ZIRH offers one of the most friendly affiliate programs and the most successful in the industry.

As for parasites, I'm not sure what you're refering to. Maybe someone could explain them to me?

    Thanks

I agree with SandraR... your New York style is too brash... (i now, need to go examine my navel )

I too got the terminated email....

guess I'll go to the competition... since you dont want to do business with me....

YOu can give all the rational you want... but in the end it's excuses....

what does it cost your company to leave us "inactive" affiliates alone... some of us.. have many (30 OR MORE) websites... with 10's of 1000's of pages... it takes time to get new merchants in the right place to get sales...because it requires some trial and error....in the placement of your link or text ad...

I for one always move any program that gets its first check up to the top 10 list for increased content. this sometimes leaves new merchents dangling for a while till I can get back to them...

your program was one of those dangling... guess it just feel into a black hole!

And, that's the bottom line because it's my2cents!

I think the real problem with affiliate marketing is there are too many KIDS pretending to be ADultS...

    what i mean...

most affilaiate manager I run accross are in ther 30's.. with masters in marketing dress... fresh out of college...

what do they really know about marketing especially marketing on the internet... they have yet to earn there 'bones"

those of us who have been on the net for a while risking it all every day have to put up with this inexperience and immature behavior...(i dont believe I just said that)

what i means is these very same AMs are using someone elses money... to learn their trade...

I for one have had my fill of this stuff..

Just because someone has a Master degree in anything doesn't mean they know anything except how to jump through hoops...

My cat Leroy has learned this... every morning at 8 ish and every evening aorund 5 ish he makes a fuss.. because he wants wet cat food...

this is a conditioned response... just like most AM's!

    Joe

    .

And, that's the bottom line because it's my2cents!

Email is fine, i don't expect Merchants to go around calling everybody. I can tell from some of the emails i get that they actually took a look at my site and offered suggestions. Zirhs is a great program and is converting nicely for me.

Thanks for the info on parasites!

While others in the men’s skin care industry were hesitant, ZIRH emerged as the first to take the risk and implement an E-Commerce program and soon after an affiliate program. Years later, the rest of the industry has taken notice. ZIRH continues to offer the most lucrative and one of the only E-Commerce and affiliate programs in the men's skin care industry.

There are 7 year olds that understand the web better than their parents. Why? Because it was available to them at such a young, prime-learning age.

    Enjoy your weekend.

Chris- Did I say WELCOME to ABW , yet? lolol.....

I agree, Joe, it's a pain to reapply to some programs, and frankly I usually don't bother. The last time I tagged an AM for just cutting affiliates out without a warning, the AM cursed me out. I actually kept the email and look at it from time to time, just to remind myself how unprofessional some AMs can be.

Chris, however, took a knock or two from me in stride and replied in a calm, professional manner. I dunno, but in fishing terms, he might end up being a 'keeper'. It depends, I suppose, on Zirh's approach to parasites, which I assume we will learn about as he gets acquainted with the issues.

    I forgot...

ZIRH does not participate in any programs such as parasites, spam or any other unsolicited forms of marketing. My past experience shows that they don't work. ZIRH only engages in opt-in practices, this is essential to building brand loyalty.

Thanks TrustNo1 - I think others share the same experience. Drop me a line. Perhaps I can offer some pointers. I'd also like to know what practices are working best for you and ZIRH on your site.

    Chris,

I would suggest emulating IRV's for their communication skills; actually every AM that maintains a forum on ABW.

The ABW AM’s normally send emails, on/off line newsletter, they utilize the network email resources, IM and phone calls. With thousands of affiliates and thousands of merchants to maintain daily, it becomes necessary to use all types of communications all the time.

How you get me to noticed you:
Send me an email with coupons, discount and offers I can gear towards my visitors. Don’t make me login to CJ or Link share to get the banner code or whatever. Place it completely within the email so I can IMMEDIETLY place the sale, link or product while its fresh in my mind.

If there is inactivity send me a customer discount or site incentive with an offer to have a One to One chat if possible. If there is no response from the inactive person/company THEN drop there butts.

    Just My Opinion!

    Check out http://www.ebates.com/all_stores.go#Z

If you are with the MMM program in ebates, that would mean that the affiliate who convinced the customer (who has signed up with ebates), to buy from you will not get commissions for the sale. Ebates will get the commission for the other affiliate's hard work. I don't want to be the idiotic affiliate who works hard so someone else gets the commission.

I'm not too sure how the coupons only works though, so for me, it is watch and see.

Has anyone tested the merchants with coupons only, using ebates?

This thread bothers me. Has anyone checked this out?

Me too! What's up with this? I sign up and just barely start putting links on my site and I'm terminated!! God, I hate it when merchants waist my time like this!

This is news to me. We only removed those that were inactive 6 months or longer that had joined our program 6 months or earlier. We were unable to perform the action ourselves so I have to have Linkshare do it internally. I apologize to those of you that have been unfairly removed. I'm will look into this and suggest that we not remove any affiliates again.

Guess they got it wrong then. I got my approval letter on Jan 26th.

BTW, just because someone applies to a program that doesn't mean they are going to start placing ads the same day they are approved. When I get approval letters, I just move them to a 'to-do' folder. If I have a page I want to expand, ads might go up fast but sometimes a new merchant might have to wait until I maintain an existing page or get motavated to create new pages.

I sent you a PM also. Please respond when you get around to it. I have a couple pages where your product is a good fit, so I'll put ads back up after you re-instate.
