    7 Tries.
3 before I figured out the stupid thing is case sensitive.
the remainder were all "You entered the wrong text".
    Suggestions.
    1) If something is case sensitive - SAY THAT
    2) If you are going to have warbled graphic text - leave it clear enough to make out the letters or numbers.

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!

Yes, I agree - some of the time I couldn't make out what the letters were - the edges were too fuzzy - or if they were numbers - classic case is it zero or the letter 'O'...

I had to enter it 3 times before I got entry rights...

very annoying, it took me 3 times to login, images show up fuzzy and it's quite annoying. really not acceptable images are not shown correctly 50% of the time. this was worthless, Hey you could of given us the direct deposit instead of this feature. Hmm also is this supposed to be a Joke? It looks like a 2 year old made the letters. while I know I"m not going to make anymore sites with linkshare merchants, Really liked it my login information was saved so all I had to to do was type the first letter of my username, and my login would show. this is quite pethetic and a waste of time!

Got in ok on first try. No problem. Can't see where it helps anything. Just another aggrevating step to log in. It obviously provides no more security than what we already had. Anyone that knows your login can log in with the images displayed. Show me the security.

It took me 3 times to login, too.
It's obvious, we can't type what we can't see.
The edges are way too fuzzy. To be secure don't mean to be STUPID. Go back to the drawing board.

    WTF!?!?!?!

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Sorry. We did not recognize that username and password. You may log in again above. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

What is going on? Why can't I log-in. I think that I am getting the images right, but it tells me that it can recognize my username. Is my account deleted or something???

Can someone please tell me what is going on?

It isn't really for security, it's to prevent automated scripts from logging on.

Haven't tried it yet. Have that to look forward to...

LOL got in first time, but I don't know why I bothered, reports don't update for another three hours this side of the pond.

I'm really not one for profanity in public, but ...

The question LS need to ask themselves is:-
"How would we prefer affiliates spend their time?"
    1) Trying to log in, or
    2) increasing sales?

To me, the answer seems obvious. There are far easier ways to ban unauthorized access than fuzzy numbers.

I got in first try. I don't like this extra step any more than anybody else but if it does offer more security, perhaps it's worth the inconvenience. What I would like to see is LS work out a system to stop parasites hijacking our commissions!

    Reports are definitely faster.

Have they ramped it up, or is it just the lighter load on the servers due to people not bothering to log in?

Could be quite a clever move from Linkshare all round.

Maybe I'm wrong about the reporting.

For some reason I'm seeing faster general web performance than I've been used to.

4 times before it worked. I absolutely hate it. I hate the fact that Afftrack can't access my stats and I've told Linkshare so.

I didn't find the reporting any faster but I did show the first sales since mid-March, so coincidence or not, something is working well.

Took me 4 trys before it would let me in.

Kudos about aff track - no kudos for the sign in.

There has to be a better way - one that works.

The character image load up time is very slow most of the time.
From at least 15 sec. up to more than one minutes before it turns up.

I have to walk away to take a cup of water and back before it shows up.

But i entered wrong data ??

I attempted 3 times before log in successful.

&gt;&gt;Anyone that knows your login can log in with the images displayed. Show me the security.

    Just not automated.
    LS want mannual.
i may ask someone(who has less time value)
to log in for me instead

    &gt;&gt;Reports are definitely faster.

Of course, less people check report now.

It's a pain in the neck, but if it keeps automated scripts from accessing accounts, I think it's a good thing. Especially since we don't really know what some of the companies are doing with the information they get.

Besides, LinkShare is just following CJ's lead on rolling out updates that don't work. Why would they want to test it beforehand? They've got thousands of affiliates who will do the testing for them when it goes live!

Well I am not trying it again. I guess the LS merchants I work with will not be getting updated anymore until this problem is corrected!

This is quoted from the email that Linkshare sent to all users.

"The security code will appear as an image graphic, and consist of a series of case sensitive letters and/or numbers."

What part of that isn't understandable? I'm on a broadband connection, and it hasn't taken longer than a second or two for the graphic to come up in 10-12 tries. Maybe it's slower for a dialup connection?

I would guess they are trying to defeat automated checking of Linkshare accounts. They can't be trying to defeat Windows (or anyother) password saver because user can change the security code before submitting. Either way still sucks.

I doubt this will stop automated account checking just make it worse. The session will have to be kept alive costing more bandwidth and depending on what they do to keep it alive may really tax the system. Making any system less user friendly only makes user find other ways of doing things. Usually at someone elses expense. Looks like a bad idea.

At first I thought the login option was gone because they removed it from the homepage and image was not loading so I did not know where to click to get to the login page. I don't know why they couldn't use a text link or an alt tag.

Then it took me 4 tries, but that is because I didn't know it was case sensitive.

Next time I will know. It isn't really that hard to adjust to.
