G'day, I was told by someone in this forum that the tracking cookie is placed by merchant, not LS. I just want to know which part of the code generated from LS panel will notify a merchant to write a cookie for me. For example, which one of the following points is correct?
    1. I have to paste all codes, e.g.
    <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=my-affiliate-id&offerid=123456.789&type=3&subid=0">Text of a merchant product</a><IMG border=0 width=1 height=1 src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=my-affiliate-id&bids=123456.789&type=3&subid=0">

Or 2. Only the link script, without tracking image:
    <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=my-affiliate-id&offerid=123456.789&type=3&subid=0">Text of a merchant product</a>

If I only provide visitors the clickable text above, and if a visitor clicks that link, will the merchant writes the cookie for me? Or the merchant has to see the impression number?

if you rephrased your question a little bit it would possibly be more understandable.

if you were asking if a link without the tracking pixel would still track, it would, but only if clicked on. you wouldn't be able to see any impressions in your stats.

I will only lose the impressions stats feature and it won't affect sales right?

By not using the part of the URL that tracks impressions, no, you will not lose sales stats.

Like Herb said, the only thing that will change, is that the system will only track clicks, rather than impressions, which should be ok in most cases.

Although stats on impressions are nice to know (it gives you an idea of the traffic your affiliate is receiving to his/her site), what you will be most concerned with anyhow, is the number of click-thrus he/she gets on the links which send traffic from his/her site to your own.

    Hope that helps.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> what you will be most concerned with anyhow, is the number of click-thrus he/she gets on the links which send traffic from his/her site to your own. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>And what the affiliate is most concerned with, of course, is how many of those clicks are converted into sales by the merchant. And will they get credit for them...

Liz, do you use the 1*1 img provided by LS to track impressions? Yes, the stats. and conversion rate is important, but how to you think about search engine like google? As far as I know, google does not like hidden image and I also want to warp the clickable script of LS because I do not want to pass PR to it. Google also does not like affiliate site (according to a technique article about 'authority website' theory of google). That's why I warp all LS scripts.
