I don't think I have ever seen a merchant do this before. I just got an ipod, and it is shipped by fedex straight from china. It sat for 7 days with the disposition of - "delayed beyond our control".

Has anyone else seen this from a merchant? I have never seen a product drop shipped straight from china.

Probably had Made in the USA stamped on the box causing the delivery delay.

I haven't had this problem with Apple but FedEx is known for having trouble getting packages through Customs but their still better then DHL but UPS rocks at it.

I had a Package coming from Hong Kong that took almost 3 weeks to get through customs.

    Mikey The Geek,

You're wrong about FedEx having problems getting packages through customs. Customs tells FedEx which packages they want to inspect when the FedEx plane takes off from the origin point. FedEx pulls those shipments on arrival and customs determines when they are going to inspect them.

I would think the delay is caused by the increased number of shipments U.S. Customs wants to see these days and the backlog of shipments they have.

They shipped the laptop from California, and that had no issues no problems. Just surprised they don't ship a big box of ipods and then distribute them in the US. I guess this is less of a target for thieves (I have been watching "the wire" too much).

It does seem strange, and hugely uneconomical. Maybe the US warehouse ran out, and they didn't want to wait until the factory could make a standard shipment's worth...
