I have some confusion over tracking urls.

    - I've used Linkshare's link builder to create image links. Do I screw up tracking if I give the image a width attribute (in the img src tag)? The image alt tag still has the 1X1 pixel source in it.

    - Also...I would like to change the alt tag from "icon" to something more meaningful in case the image doesn't show up. Should I not mess with this?

As long as you do not mess with the 1X1 pixel or the embedded tracking URL's you should be fine. Have a good one

Honestly, I don't think the pixel has any effect on the tracking of sales through a clickthrough on an image banner either. Doesn't this have more to do with impression stats?

The 1x1 pixel image, is used for tracking impressions.

The pixel is definitly used for impressions only - the embedded tracking URL's are the part you don't want to touch - thanks for pointing that clarification out
    Have a good one
