Anyone knows of how to find out where a linkshare link is?

I have a merchant that has like 4000 impressions, a few hundred clicks and 0 sales just for this month only. It has been going on for months already, but I can't find the link that is sending the clicks.

From the linkshare reports, I can tell it is a banner and which banner it is. Problem is, I can't figure out which site it is on.

    Anyone has any ideas?

    anyone? Please?

this month, I've already sent that merchant
    8,255 impressions 903 clicks and 0 sales.

Haven't been able to convert for that merchant for months already, but can't track down that link which is sending all that traffic.

one way might be to put the banner filename and your LS ID into a search engine and see if anything shows up.

    Hey womanht,

I've tested it out on my LS account and if you have listed your sites in your LS account and linked accordingly, then the link should show which site it is coming from eg

    http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/...type=4&subid=3

I've looked at the same banner and for different websites that I've listed under LS and the subid= changes with the site

So assuming you have labelled which site you've decided to put the link in, the subid should tell you which one it is on the list.

Go to the banner for that merchant, find the banner that is the culprit and look for the subid number - and then alter the website you pick on the choose link section till you hit the right subid number. Problem is that sometimes I forget to change the site I've put the banner on and therefore there isn't much hope of me finding the site I've bunged it on.

    Hope that helps,
    Oscar

If you contact the merchant they will be able to tell you the exact URL that is sending the traffic, or at least give you a selection of pages to check out based upon the LS IP report.

    Cheers

Also, sometimes it's in google's cached pages

Sometimes it's on some idiot's page who lifted stuff from your page

I have one from a merchant I dropped centuries ago (I think it's KBToys) that keeps getting hits from an insurance company's internal search engine

    Thanks.

    I'll try contacting the merchant.

Can't trace the link in search engines either or via linkshare. Thanks for all the advice though.

It is such a waste sending all the traffic to a nonconverting landing page.
