    Visit the site (Improvements Catalog) through your link.... then click on the little FREE GIFT WITH THIS ORDER banner than crawls across your screen after a minute or so... and you will be taken to a live person who will give you a free gift if you place your order with THEM. Very interesting. This person gets commission on the sale (so they told me ) Does anyone know if we still get commission if the person on live chat does too?

    Ugh, you send someone to improvements catalog.... through your affliate link... and they get an instant offer for a free gift if they order through the live help person... not your link(the cart that tracks the sale) Seems very fishy. Now, stop rolling your eyeballs at me.

    Well, you didn't mention the merchant until you edited your post after I replied.

    That is a question you should ask the merchant, but I would say it is highly unlikely the affiliate will get a commission. I would never promote a merchant that did that.

    Some Live help button people are affiliates who migrated to affiliate marketing from the Telemarketing industry. Very Entrenched IAB/DMA members hooked in with the 3rd party AM firms.

    Actually Snowman, I did have Improvements in the subject line but I did edit my post to make the question more clear. I am trying to be perfect, but not quite there yet, LOL!

    This might be related.
    I was trying to make a test purchase with a merchant, the other day, and their shopping cart would not complete a sale when the live help was on. When the the live help was off (different time of day)I was able to to complete the sale through the shopping cart. Thought that was kinda strange.

    I had a similar conversation but the rep told me that they get any commission, it is their job to make the sale and improvments could only pay one person commission. I am sorry I didn't save the transcript. Needless to say, I have dropped this company pending an answer to who gets the commission.

    Wish it were that simple. They can't seem to "validate" my e-mail, despite the fact that I get e-mails from the contact@linkshare e-mail on a regular basis with no problems. Multiple phone calls have resulted in two things:

    1) Me having to repeat the entire situation - at this point, I'm up to about five "retellings"

    2) Being told the problem must be on our end ... despite the fact that we're receiving e-mails from the aforementioned address.

    Yep, I'm inspired!

    I kept clicking on links on their account info page until I finally hit the right one. But only on the second try did I get the validation email.

    I clicked on my improvements link and didn't get a sliding banner until after I clicked on an item I was interested in.

    I briefly spoke to the live person, Justin, and told him I was just checking my links. Truth is, I hid the links until I'm sure I will be the one getting the commission cheques.

    Sad, considering it was getting the most clicks out of all my LS merchants!

    Ugh update. The Improvements manager wrote me last week and told me this had been removed, however, after adding all of my links back in to my database, guess what, still popping. This is unreal.
