Do you think there is any chance we might get another bonus from this one???

Damn, my sales were doing real good past few days. I hope this is what Haiko was talking about, being able to check stats only once a day. Maybe one day CJ can look more than weeks into the future and actually PLAN, so we don't have to go through all these updates.

AFAIK CJ is not planning on limiting how often affiliates can check their stats. Ever. AFAIK.

This one may prove to be interesting.

Incidentally, the dot.com bust left some rental infrastructure suppliers with trailers full of "instant Web site" computer installations.

Maybe CJ should shop around . . .

I'm truly concerned about Ron's ability to go through another upgrade so soon. Better make sure the bar is stocked up Ron.

    Ms. B,

Have you seen those backpacks that are really giant water bags with a long hose over your shoulder so you can easily drink while you ride bikes, etc? Well, I have a dozen of them all stocked with liquor instead. That way we can all take a needed sip without our hands leaving the keyboard. LOL

Actually, I need to find something to do from 5:00-10:00 PM, ...maybe 11:00 PM...heck, better just go away for the night.

Yes, it does. It really stinks for me for the whole month. Specially yesterday and today. I am seeing more clicks this month than ever with least sales this year.

We are upgrading our database servers. They will be much faster (faster, more efficient processors; more ram; faster memory access; etc.). It is a small downtime (a few hours). The only change you will experience is faster reporting - not that our reporting is slow but this new hardware is top of the line equipment. Everyone replaces hardware periodically as more, better, faster (and less expensive) stuff becomes available.

Wait and see, there should be no problems associated with the upgrade.

Now Todd, you know better than to make a statement like that!

If nothing else, it is bad luck to say things like that. LOL

I am going out on a limb but I have confidence that our tech team is going to do a smooth, trouble free deployment. Plus they read my posts here, so now they are going to make sure I don't live to regret my statement.

Seriously though, this is a pretty basic deployment - we are not introducing any new code/software - just upgrading to faster machines.

Todd, you should gradually increase the upgrade dates and times, and slowly help to break me of my SDA ( Stat Dependancy Abuse )

We are deploying 8 new servers, each with four 900 MHz processors and 32 GB of memory.

You will be able to get your stats at the speed of light now.

8 total dedicated servers? I imagined the network alittle larger...but sounds nice...900Mhz etc.

Hey, what a coincidence that Performics always has their scheduled maintenance at the same times as CJ. They even updated and added new features at the very same time CJ did.

"This evening, the ConnectCommerce system is scheduled to undergo routine scheduled maintenance beginning at 10:00p.m. Central Time; it is expected to last no longer than 5 hours. This means that the ConnectCommerce interface will be unavailable during this time. However, ConnectCommerce tracking will continue normally."

We have many other servers performing other functions. The servers I am referencing are replacing our main reporting databases. Two of these servers are more than enough to serve 10X our current business. They are replacing 3 year old servers and should be far faster.

Oh, just for reporting...that's what I like to hear.

Who's the lucky recipients of the old servers? Or does trash pickup handle that?

The old servers are Sun e6500's - they are the size of refridgerators. We are keeping them online for emergency purposes for a little while. After that, we will use them as door stoppers.

Well Todd, from my 30 years plus in DP when we do a changeover like that you keep the primary system up and running while the new systems are being loaded as backups then just flip-flop the server bank. Very normal stuff really we do it here all the time and stay live - and guess what, out tracking always works.

Of course I'm working out of a garage with only 15 processors, each with a gig plus, but it still pays the mortgage and child support.

So Todd, can you run that list of job openings for data center manager by us again ?

    Cheers

    Richard

We try not to hire smart asses.

We did just flip-flop the server banks but we also wanted to run some maintenance scripts while we were at it, hence the down time.

Anyway, as everyone can see, things are back up and working fine.

    Have a great weekend.

Now Todd hear me out. We transfer the whole datacenter to Lompoc, run it on multiple dsl lines using half a dozen pc's picked up at yard sales, defunct companies, etc. Rack mount all the drives on 2x4's ripped off from the local building site cool everything down by having the garage door open, use a govt surplus generator for backup power when the power that is being borrowed from the vacant house next door gets turned off.

Hold on that's my operation, damn now I've given all the trade secrets away
