You see, some of the CJ merchants also has their own inhouse program. If it happens that someone have came to them from 2 sources when one come from a CJ link while another come from the in-house link, they MIGHT end up paying twice for a same sale.

I know this is not happening because there are ways to avoid this. But how? I can't think of the way because I don't think a merchant can remove a CJ cookie. Can they?

No a merchant cannot remove a CJ cookie. Basically what happens is the use of an IF statement in the backend code for the pixel reporting. If an in-house cookie value is present, then the CJ pixel is not displayed thus not reported to CJ and goes through the in-house reporting system.

I'll further the question by saying that some merchants are for example... both at CJ and Performics (e.g. Blair.com).

If a customer/surfer has a Blair CJ cookie on their machine as well as a Blair Performics cookie, which affiliate and network gets credit?

Do instances of reversals for the reason "other" related to this?

An affiliate could do a test... If you have a merchant at two different networks for example ...click through on one network link one day, and the other network link the next day... Make sure both cookies are set...

Then make a test purchase by going to the merchant's site directly ...then observe which network(s) your sale shows up at.

    Good question Kelly.

Based on my observation of what JCWhitney does (they have both CJ and Performics), I see that every link no matter which network is assigned a "requestid". So a CJ link will have one request ID and a Performics link will have a different request ID. My assumption is that they maintain a database of requestid's and store which network each one belongs to. At checkout, JC Whitney reads their own cookie for the last set requestid and displays the tracking pixel for the appropriate network based on the requestid.

While we're on JCWhitney ...why doesn't the JCWhitney program through CJ pay out a quarter ($.25) for a catalog request ...but the JCWhitney program through Performics does?

Am I wrong? Do you guys that have JCWhitney through CJ get a quarter for a catalog request?

    Everything else is the same:

    Action referal period: 21 days
    Action referal occurrences: Unlimited
    Commission: 6.00 %
