A new listing of CJ Merchants utilizing scumware is available- a great resource for affiliates to keeping it fair in the affiliate marketing model. You may see the listing at Ye Olde Garage Sale Company Links Directory, This work was completed by several affiliates dedicated to keeping it fair. Please click on Commission Junction Merchants utilizing Scumware link.

    Thanks

Just an added note: Check back with us in the future as I and other affiliates expose merchants who utilize GATOR and other predatory advertising.

This expose' will also highlight the providers and thier lapdogs who feign ignorance in regards to spinning affiliates out of money and the truth!

The nav sure makes it hard to see all the advertisers! I think I'd be hitting Next for ages trying to get to the ones whose names start with something like "V"...

Well I think Zara did one heck of a job compiling data from its raw state that another affiliate provided and getting it on site! She deserves a lot of kudos!

Looked through the list despite the nav.

A few surprises! Out of my best merchants, some have paras (according to that list) and some don't.

Also I notice that the bottom tier (the merchants who will be dropped for nonperformance the next time I clean house, or already have been dropped) doesn't have any paras. I figure even the paras couldn't sell the stuff from those dogs! After all, for the para to grab a commission, someone actually has to BUY something from the merchants in question, and that's something that just doesn't happen at some merchants, LOL!!

Looking at what sells despite paras, and what doesn't do so hot, though, should say a bit about the demographics. But I'll have to take a closer look before drawing any conclusions. At first glance, I see some where it looks like they've had an effect and some where they don't seem to be having any effect at all. The affected/unaffected categories aren't the ones I would have expected, either...

There are a LOT of CJ merchants that don't have any parasites, according to that list. CJ's not nearly as infested as some posts would have it seem, if the list is mostly accurate.

ooops. Found a lot of my merchants in this list. A lot of work is waiting for deleting them.

    carneol

P.S. are there any merchants left which are at cj.com and not on that list?

While I believe this list could be useful I think it should have an "as of date" attached to it. I also think it should have a note about checking it's current accuracy as some merchants are discontinuing some of these relationships frequently. (Not as frequent as we'd like.)

The reason I bring this up is because right off the bat I see 1800contacts listed with "w" and "e" and the last I heard 1800contacts was involved in a lawsuit with "w". And Josh from 1800contacts had a thread in June that resulted in his discontinuing the relationship with "e". (Unless you have more recent info.)

Basically, a definition of where and when the information was gathered not only helps the user but will protect the authors as well against out-dated material.

    Just a thought ...

    Netsu and all,

Hazydavy is right. You need to double check your merchants on that list to be sure the information is accurate and up-to-date. I noticed a couple of mistakes on it. So please do not condemn any of your merchants and start pulling links based on this list but do your due diligence first. I think this is a great tool and admire all the people I know in the background that helped to make this happen. But unless someone is updating this list in real time, you can only use it as a heads up.

What would be really helpful would be if Zara, Glen and the others that are involved would add links on the top of each page to the EBates, Morpheus, buyerspost, WhenU merchant lists to make it easier for affiliates to check a merchant's current status.

    As in iAfma.org -----> CasinoAffiliateForce.com, etc.

There you have it folks...most of your CJ merchants are in bed with the bad guys, so better pack your bags for a cruise.

See ya when you get back.

Kelly totally wrong. Some of the members who put that together are very knowledgeable but that is the only place they can post at the moment. iAfma.org does not equal the affiliates who put the list together. Sometimes they might have stirred some sh!t and rubbed some the wrong way, but they are some of the most knowledgeable affiliates out there.

I for one understand how hard gathering the information and presenting it can be. While I appreciate the efforts and don't want to undermine it, I find this offering "much less" than desirable although a start.

Maybe it's just me but it doesn't seem clear if merchants listed "with nothing besides their name" are clean or not.

The title states "CJ Merchants Utilizing scumware". Much of the list doesn't identify the scumware they are associated with "unless this is just a complete list of CJ merchants denothing the ones associated with pware" which is contrary to the title of the thread.

If the list is "pware partnering merchants":

    1) It should only contain the ones associted with pware.
    2) Why have the list just contain CJ merchants?
    3) The list should really be contained in a database and displayed with applicable search options. IE: If I wanted to see a list of clean merchants, ditry merchants associated with particular parasites, etc. I could search in varying ways.

On another note, a full list of merchants pware and non pware partnered could be used as a source to allow merchants themselves to enter in their thoughts and positions regarding pware (IE: an extension of merchants against parasites) and it could likely be used as an extension of "other initiatives" being discussed.

This list (or a complete one from other networks merchants as well) along with sending verifiable emails to merchants on the list inviting a response for their position could go a long way toward making merchants formally choose a position to take regarding parasites and put the issue and merchant position more "in plain view".

Entries logged could be stored for historical purposes as well. Having this type of offering could in effect put significanly more pressure on merchants to drop relationships with pware.

Not only merchant positions / comments should be allowed, I also think that verifiable high level specifics of communications between affiliates and the merchants should be allowed.

Until we can document that we have been in contact with AM's and or other key persons in a company and can back it up with names, dates, etc, merchants will continue to assume they can hide or disquise their lack of actions and partnerships with parasites simply as "being unaware of the issues".

The real question comes down to who will use the list and the purpose of it. As far as I'm concerned, if the work is going to be identified and "kept up to date", it's inexcusable to present it as sloppy as it is and not use the data for anything other than general affiliate awareness. The potential for a better implementation could have far reaching impacts on merchants willing to partner with or continue to partner with parasites.

"Why have the list just contain CJ merchants"?

Exactly! The motive behind the list is obvious.

I just can't bring myself to respect how these people go about promoting themselves. Sneaky, shady, elusive...what are all the words for this...nothing that makes one desire their outfit for sure.

Nor do I think any of the affiliates here are going to forsake CJ because a majority of their merchants are put on such a list...no more than they'll forsake CJ because CJ itself promotes the likes of eBates.

It's like a group of felons in the bahamas who create a list of known shop lifters on the mainland.

Good for a chuckle I suppose.

super stuff stirrer, you have raised a lot of good points, and just to touch base on some of the issues you've raised-

the database is an access database- converted over to frontpage just to slap something on the web.

Nav issues, (as raised by Leader) and the search suggestion as raised by you will probably somewhere down the line will be added, we'll have to see how it turns out- right a lot of guests have been lockout over at iafma.org, and so we now have comms issues as we were all coordinating on the up and up right in thier faces so to speak.

I hope this project doesnt get lost because of this...

Just thought I let you know that I have placed a GATOR Targeting Search Box on Ye Olde Garage Sale Company Links Directory

If you are an affiliate contemplating a new merchant, you can plug in the website without the prefix, ie. helpdeskhandbook.com into the search box and it will pull from the database 2 things.

    1. whether or not the site was, or is currently targeted by gator, and if it is, by whom.

and example is microsoft.com is targeted by Vistaprint.com popup utilizing GAIN or Gator.

Gives you a choice, should you be a microsoft affiliate and a vistaprint affiliate, you wouldnt want to either a) keep vistaprint because of its predatory ties, or not place them on your referring site to microsoft.

I have defaulted the search box to checking my web site, of which Gator has no interest, but you can easily change that by plugging in the desired website you want to check on.

For the CJ Defenders who have commented here, you will note the amount of predator associated merchants affilaited with CJ.

    Actually the list:
    http://nightimeuk.com/members/sites/steib/eek.html

has merchants from all networks, not just CJ, and independents too.

I like the link Haiko provided best, because (1) it lists all the networks as well as independent programs, and (2) it clearly states "If Status (on end) is blank * * you are presumed to be Theifware Free."

I copied it into Excel and was able to sort it out by network, program, etc.

    Thank you, Haiko!
