OK. Trying to set up a special page on my Loan/Finance site for UK surfers.

Go to join up with 2 CJ merchants in the loans category.

BOTH AUTOMATICALLY DENY the application based on the fact that the "webmaster" isn't UK based.

Are these people idiots? Do they really think that UK surfers ONLY visit sites put together by people living in the UK?

    Sometimes I REALLY WONDER!

Now you know how it feels from the other side of the coin LOL

I can't get into like, a third of the programs, even though my websites target U.S visitors - I'm Australian so the morons assume my visitors are.

I hear ya SamyT, 90% of my visitors are US and I can't join many programs because I'm not from there... If I try to e-mail the AM I usually don't get a response.

Me too, I've been denied access to a number of US programs instantly, presumably because I'm based in the UK.

Email to the affiliate manager goes unanswered

In fact, I know of one US merchant who actually BLOCKS all email and website traffic from the UK completely

Heyder, no problem just tell me what merchants you want to sign up for and you can use my affiliate code. However you will have to trust me on the commissions!!

If you want to get past the ones that don't seem to really think much past the address - create a secondary affiliate account that utilizes a DBA and two addresses.

    Post your name as:
"SuperBig USA Affiliate Sales Dynamo, LLC"
    P.O. Box 17991123544555
    New York, New York

    Send Payments to:
    Earl Kitchens
    7 Monte Claire
    Rue De Clas, Monaco

This way they will at least have to call you to figure out the relationship. You can even do it without the real address by simply keeping the alternate account and then once you are approved. You can change the payment info on the account. It doesn't cost anything to sign up a new account. Maybe a little time consuming, but it gets you what you want and that is the ultimate goal.

Seems like an opportunity for someone with good programming skills and their own server to create a 'virtual' country. Complete with mail forwarding (both e and snail).

Sounds like Heyder fills that bill.

No I don't fill that bill. I can't even get right left and double clicking down.

I do like the idea though. I wonder if you could force people to pay taxes.

    Your problem is not new.
This problem is there for many years.

To say that you(owner) are not based in US or UK is fine.

But some merchants are saying that they want
"websites" that are based in US or UK.
Because the address is not US or UK, then the site is not based in US or UK.

How can a website based in a certain country?
It should not be in physical sense for website.

Only a person or a company can be based/registered in a country.

The website is on the Internet, WWW.

Search engines are just as bad and compound the issue.

I'm in the UK, if a UK visitor searches google.co.uk and ticks the "pages from the UK" box, they are ONLY shown pages HOSTED in the UK. Which included my sites for US only visitors hosted on a UK server. But a site hosted in the US meant for UK only visitors won't be show. Madness.

I now have servers in the UK and the US. So a site meant only for US visitors which I'll host in the US will be recognised as a US site by google. But, the CJ AM's might still reject my application because I am from the UK, and for some reason I assume they think I can only attract UK visitors.

    It's all madness.

Hell, i'd settle if they went by domain extension - I'm Australian and I DON'T have a .com.au - my websites are .coms... that'd make em American wouldn't it

No, they think you will spell stuff funny and you might use strange words.

Mr.Merchant, if you do business in any way what-so-ever with parasites, your products will not be sold on my sites!!

Rubbish. It's hardly taken off, people use it when they can't get the domain in the .com from what I have seen - it may the official one, but from general knowledge most people would assume a .com is American.

But all companies in other countries use
    .com too.

Thus, .com really mean international now.

It may do - but I still don't think .us has made any sort of splash - I believe people prefer a .com if they can get one.

Try contacting the AM via cj AND the site email plus company principals. Educate them to the facts of life. usually the company principals are not even aware of the auto rejection. I'll take a 5 star affiliate from Timbukto vs a 0 star affiliate from a pre-approved country anyday. ( Actually I will take anyone so long as they follow the TOC - everyone has to start somewhere )

On ereally annoying thing is that the auto-reject states that you can contact the merchant through a link the CJ system, but no such link shows up.

Why does CJ bother showing you merchants that it's not going to let you join?

    Do not complain this.
i can view all merchants is still better.

i just need to spend much more effort trying to contact these merchants.

If they are block from your view,
you never have a chance to partner with them.

If they're so dumb they auto-reject high-volume webmasters for living in the wrong country, then I'd rather not do business with them.

I'd rather send traffic to merchants that don't need a good beating with a clue stick.
