I don't know what's getting into these merchants these days.

The posting date of this rather nice sale was back in April. I get a reversal today for the sale, with reason "returned merchandise".

The merchant makes it plain on their website that a customer has 30 days to return merchandise, and that they will be subject to a reshelving fee.

In case you're wondering what type of merchandise ...it was perfume. What merchant allows you to return perfume 5 months later?

If this was a careless mistake on their part, it was a costly one.

    Hi Kelly,

So much for transactions being locked...

    What merchant was it?

I'm going to give the merchant a fair amount of time to reply to this situation before I go about to dirty their name among a few thousand publishers at ABW.

Maybe I should take a poll. Does everyone think:

    (A) They will not reply to the situation.

    (B) They will reply that there were special circumstances that warranted a refund for this customer 5 months later.

    (C) The situation was an error, and I will be re-credited for the commission amount.

    What BULLSHOOT!

Five months to return perfume? Give me a break! I think this merchant should have let you keep the commission - I mean REALLY - they're going to come back FIVE MONTHS LATER and reverse it?

CJ should not allow this to happen! After the commission is LOCKED and the return window has passed, it's just TOUGH LUCK if something's returned. If the merchant were halfway decent, this would have never come up.

I'll bet you don't hear back from them...they're too busy slithering under a rock someplace!

Drop their name into the boiling pot already. last December I reported eHobbies not only showed no sales for the Christmas season by went all the way back to Feb 2002 and reversed 100% of my larger sales for reason "invalid CC or OTHER". They are acting better since Todd clued them I don't play tricks with traffic or link codes.

I agree with Andy in that they should at the very least let you keep the commission. If their return policy is a 30 day one, why on earth would they allow a return 5 months after the fact?

    What a crock!

I'd guess at (D) - They refended within 30 days but only remembered to take away your commission when double checking the accounts. At least that's what they'll claim.

I'm betting on B, with a sidebet that they include some nonsense about processing the return taking a long time.

It just drives me crazy that so many merchants NEVER reply!!!!!

I think I read in the CJU thread how everyone was stressing the importance of communication...Yeah right...I've only received responses from merchants about 50% of the time...

Some merchants have a lot to learn about treating their affiliates properly.

Here's another beauty just in today:

A watch merchant today reversed a $300 "locked" sale from over a month ago ...reason "invalid credit card".

To tell you the truth, I have no idea how you'd unlock a sale to reverse it. I thought there was no way to do this. Not that I'd want to, of course.
