    Hi Everyone,

I know some of you have used the $299 submission tool for Yahoo!

Question is - was it money well spent? Have you seen enough returns from it especially if you submitted to the Finance section (credit cards etc)

    ?

I'm too chicken shit to try it.

It just doesn't seem like good business to pay for something you might not get or that might not turn out to be what you wanted.

The no return is what burns me up. Even if they offer partial return if you are not listed I would go for it.

Your approach to a Yahoo! listing has to be a two pronged. The siginificance of having a site listed in Yahoo! is at least two pronged.

Jada mentioned she now has 4 or 5 sites in Yahoo! The traffic may not come from those listings, but you can bet your boopies that any google keyword specific search that finds that site will give a huge weight to the page that has a link in from a Yahoo! listed site.

And sites which you link to from the listed site will also benefit from the weight of the listed site.

The algos come and the algos go on the bot driven search engines. I'm pretty sure that a listing in a human reviewed directory like DMOZ and/or Yahoo will always have some extra weight in the algos. In other words, long term stability could have to do with a site listing in one of those directories.

Now, whether you'll make that $300 back in a reasonable amount of time (and whether you get accepted after paying that!) is up to your skills.

Evilbob - I have gotton 4 out of 5 sites listed with yahoo. However, I pray everytime I submit to them. Some categories are more picky than others. As mentioned before, the no money back and no guarantee rule sucks. If you don't have $300 to give away and gamble, I wouldnt do it. Because they might reject your site. But if you have it to lose, go for it. I think it does play key when cross linking from google. I'm not too successful in getting sites in the DMOZ - they are prejudiced against affiliates.
