someone must be earning loads from ebay, as recently i have been looking up items or information and finding that the first couple of search results in google look like shops, but in actual fact forward you to ebay

    like this search in google
    http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ey+thomas+tank

I would have thought google would have picked up on this, and I also thought that google was not too hot spidering sites that forward, well not with mine anyway!!!

seems a pretty useless page to be at the top of google really!!

If you look at the cache you'll find this is a cloaked page.

A cloaked page is one that serves a different page depending on who visits. If you look at the page as normal in a browser, you will see the ebay listing. If you look at the cache (what Google sees), you will see a totally different page, stuffed with keywords to fool the search engine.

    And no, it isn't legitimate.

If you complain to Google, they will almost certainly remove the page(s) from their listings.

thanks for that, I had no idea out cloaking.
I found alot more of those links

    http://www.clairvoyantic.com/Hulk_Sp..._MIP_2087.html

    and another one
    http://www.dancestor.com/Ultimate_Te..._Man_1753.html

    and another one

    http://www.dominantibodies.com/50_CO...TMAN_3732.html

    and this one

    http://www.dominantibodies.com/Spide...1_C9_3070.html

and there are obviously 1000's of others as these were just spiderman seachs.

its a bit annoying when you look for something and end up visiting ebay 10 times!

so i reported them to google.

I came across this a couple of weeks ago while searching for something. The top 9 out of 10 results were variations on a theme of domain name and all redirects to ebay.

There's a link at the bottom of the page "disatisfied with the results?" or something similar. I informed Google of what had happened, next time I checked a few days later all the garbage was gone and result no. 10 was now no. 1 with the rest of the page being proper web sites too.

This is great, now if we all contact google complaining about these affiliate sites, google can finally do the only thing it should have done long ago - not return any affiliate sites in it's results and we can all find other jobs. I mean they already have froogle so why bother with any site that has a cj link or befree link. Keep up the good work everybody and we will get googles results cleaned up nicely in no time.

As I see it, for certain search terms, Google is already Froogle. I tried to find some information today about SDS drills, gave up in the end as everything returned was an affiliate site with no information beyond a basic description and link to the merchant. Unless Google does something soon it's ability to respond quickly and comprehensively to changes will be its downfall as information will be impossible to find - that's when surfers will move on to the next search engine.

The reason I complained was not because the search returned affiliate sites, but that the top 9 results were all re-directs to the same place by the same outfit who were providing no value whatsoever to anyone.
