Yes they found my new pages, all of them but i am not very happy with the result. I got several number 1 position for unpopular terms though .

They really had changed their algo , under old algo I would expect much better result

This is a great update for me! I hope everyone else is having a good one too.

I had lost a few of my rankings last month and it has cost me about $800+ in Nov. I got most back and few extra in the top 3, Yipee!! (if things stay as they are on www2.google - that is <crossing fingers>)

I'm pretty happy, too. My new site, which is a relaunch of my old site on About.com, launched on October 11. Yahoo changed the listing to my URL early in November, and Google began a deep crawl on the same day. This morning, www2.google.com is listing 2,560 pages for my new domain. A random check shows that some of those pages are in the #1 positions for their search strings, ahead of the old, unmaintained pages that I'm still waiting for About.com to take down.

As a writer/publisher who comes from a book- and magazine-publishing background, I continue to be amazed by the democratic and populist nature of the Web. "Pay per listing" may be gaining ground, but a new Web site can still get prominent listings in the #1 search engines. Can you imagine a new mom-and-pop magazine or small press getting that kind of distribution from the publishing wholesalers and book chains?

Well done Jada & congratulations to all who have good results. Looks like my lastest pages are in with reasonable-ish listings for some terms so just need to see how it works out visitor-wise. Don't think I'm gonna get rich this time round though.

I'm not sure how I did. I have a few maybe good keyword listings on the first page of googly and then several really good keyword listings on the second pages of googly. Any input on how the second page listings with popular search terms seem to do. I hope it stays the way it is. <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif> I did loose my main page however, but I really never did too much from google with it. Best of luck to all!<IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon12.gif>

BTW- does Google have a tool that shows how many times a keyword is searched each month?? Thanks!

Google does have a way that gives you a rough estimate. It's not easy to find like Overture's; you have to fiddle around with AdWords.

Packy--

The second page (assuming you mean listings 10-20) depends mostly on whether the top 10 are really offering what people are searching for.

Say people are typing in "Doohickeys". Say they intend to BUY a Doohickey.

If the top 10 are stores that sell Doohickeys, the second page will only get a few searches.

But if the top 10 are all talking about How Doohickeys Work, you will see almost no dropoff in searches on the second page (because none of the top 10 are actually selling a Doohickey, so the searchers keep looking)!

Take a look at what's above you and you'll have your answer...

Of course, if the searchers really DO want to know how Doohickeys work, you're going to be out of luck because then they will stop at the content sites. But those people wouldn't have bought anyway, even if your sales site's on top! Info seekers will ignore stores and keep looking for content, just like Buyers will ignore content sites and look for a store.

Thanks Peter, That really helped alot. It gave me some estimates of what to expect. Ummm, I won't expect a lot. Lmao.

Leader, thanks. What you said makes sense. I do look when I am bidding on ppc to see whats above me and if it's relevant to what people are searching for, of course unless I want the top spots for other engines that are fed. Thanks again. <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon7.gif>

Yep, It's a new google day , and for the first time , I'm real happy about it !

My first real attempt to try and get the #1 listing for a particular keyword worked like a charm .

I think I am officially hooked on this FREE targeted traffic thing

Special thanks to Overture for plucking my paid listings like a bunch of Turkey feathers , for without them pissing me off so , I would have never even tried !

Big Chuck - Yahoo and Yahoogle are on CRACK right now!!! They can't seem to keep their search results steady. I have lost major keywords in yahoo as a result and am pissed.

However, hopefully this new google update will help me out for this month. I gained many 1st page keywords that have pretty good search rates.

Lisa - Don't feel bad. Overture - plucked my turkey too - deleted 80 of my keywords. They pissed me off too. November most have been "Piss Jada Off" month. LOL!!

Yep, for the first time in a couple of updates I actually went up a few places for some of the keywords I keep an eye on.

woohooo, I got in -- not everything (I just submitted some new stuff last week), but some good ones.

Several #1 positions on one particular product... unfortunate that the current #1 for those terms is the vendor I'm promoting and in the new rankings (which I know aren't necessarily final) they get bumped to #2... I didn't mean to, honest...

ok, I would like to know if people who use tactics such as this get penalized by google....but more curious, I don't understand the methodology for this, why would they want the bed in a bag listing to sell furniture??

here is the google page:
http://www3.google.com/search?q=disc...e+Search&hl=en

It is the third site (fourth listing) "Bed In A Bag Discount Prices Beautiful Bed In A Bag"

Now check the cached page/ compare with what is there when you click through now.

What's up with this, and why do they do this?

The only reason they haven't been penalized is because they haven't been caught.

They are also at #9 for the same search.

Hey Google has me in the #2 spot for "Pagan news" and the #4 spot for "Pagan information".

I even beat out Witches Voice! (a truly great site)

I know these terms aren't searched for a lot but they sure are targeted to what I am trying to accomplish with the site. Anyway, I feel pretty puffed up about it.

Sanfords.Net the best resource for Pagans and the Pagan curious!

Yeay! I just noticed.

I've doubled the number of links I can find to dynamoo.com from 77 to 142. CreepyGuy up fourfold I think too

Some of those links took a long time in coming, but I'm a saddo and scour the access logs for new referring URLs every day

MsMarySunshine:

I've heard of these exact same spammers before - think they were mentioned in bcental bulletin or somewhere...they've apparenty got dozens of site which are totally identical except for the 'targetted" keywords. Report 'em...just use the link at the bottom of google's search results page which says
"Unsatisfied with your results? <a href=http://www3.google.com/quality_form?q=discount+bed+in+a+bag&num=100&hl=en>"Help us improve.</a>."
Hopefully all their spam sites will then magicaly disappear next month

I recognize FurnitureFind, they really are all over any furniture related listing. If you search for "childrens furniture" on google, just try to count all their listings. Although the listings do actually go to kids and baby furniture pages, they are definitely cloaking.
